Hotels for Out of Town Cubs Fans

Hello all.  I know this is a little off topic.  I checked the BCB Reader Tourist Diary, but it didn't seem to address this issue.  My wife (who is 6 months pregnant with our first child) and I will be in town for the Cardinals series in April.  We're looking at places to stay that (a) aren't too expensive (b) are in a safe area and (c) won't require too much walking for my wife to get to/from the games.  Any suggestions would be much appreciated.  I'm looking forward to taking my son to his first game (even though he, of course, won't be able to see anything).

Here's a good one...
... the Hawthorne Terrace. About four blocks' walk from Wrigley Field. It may be sold out for those dates, though.

You could also try this one, or this one, both of which are about a mile from the park, an easy cab ride, or walk if you have about half an hour.

Good luck!

Suggestions
I think you guys might enjoy staying closer to downtown, as it will make it easier for you to do things when you are not watching baseball (unless your wife wants to be jostled by the college age kids at Wrigleyville bars).  I often like the Palmer House Hilton because it is right across the street from the red line L that will take you to Wrigley, but when I checked it out for that weekend (I'll be in town, too), it was full.  I chose the Hotel Burnham, which is a convenient walk to Millenium Park, the Art Institute, the Magnificent Mile, etc., and also is right next to the red line L to Wrigley.  You can find other options by checking my favorite source, TripAdvisor, which lets you search by rate and even click to get a map so you can see where every hotel is located that you are considering.

Good luck!

Brand spanking new...
Hampton Inn, on Monroe just the other side of State Street from the Palmer House Hilton. Same easy red line trip to the game which would require 2 blocks of walking total. The hotel has only been open a month so I am guessing many people are not familiar with it or even know it exists which hopefully means availability.

Second.
I haven't stayed at this place, but the location is good, and I've seen the rooms--it's very nice and much nicer than you would normally expect from a Hampton Inn.

Not too bad...
There's a Days Inn at the intersection of Clark and Diversey that's decent. Stayed there a couple years ago...rates aren't too bad. The room isn't exactly the lap of luxury, but it's not a roach motel, either. About a 3/4 or 1 mile walk straight up Clark gets you to Wrigley.

The second link....
... in my comment above is the link to the Days Inn site.

Seconding
Stayed there a couple years ago and it was excellent.  It's also pretty close to the Lincoln Park Zoo and Natural History Museum so if you are staying for a while and have kids it's the way to go.
