Gameday Audio via Mac

I'm considering buying into the whole MLB.com Gameday Audio (and maybe TV) subscriptions; however, I'm leery as to how it'll work with my Mac. Do any of you use Mac and subscribe? Can you tell me what additional downloads you needed, programs you use, etc.? I've had some bad luck with these things in the past.

I appreciate any responses. I can hear WGN in my car, but at home (across Lake Michigan from Chicago) the reception is sketchy. I'm hoping Gameday will be the solution. Go Cubs!

In 2005 I subscribed for about 2 hours to MLB.com
audio broadcast.  The sound quality was so pathetic I thought that I was listening via one of those old AM radios that the Cubs used to give away at games (the ones that only tuned in to AM 720)...They had a very good customer service line and the terms included full refund within some period of time?  In other words, it was very easy to cancel then.

I don't know what it's like now but check their refund cancellation policy if you want to test it.

I still have one of those radios.
One of the more useful giveaways they ever had.

I run the audio on a Mac...
at work, and have had no real problems.  MLB doesn't support safari, so you will have to use a different browser.  I run it in Firefox and it works. I have never tried the TV.
Hope that helps.

Thanks
for the input so far. I hope I can get a couple more readers to voice their opinions.

I had one of those earpiece Cubs radios, too. They were sweet, though the sound was pathetic. Still, I was 11-12, it was the mid-80s, and I thought it was great.

I've had no problems
I've got a G4 at home and it runs fine with Firefox. I think it's a Flash applet that utilizes Reel Media, but I could be wrong. The audio isn't as bad as most people make it out to be, specially considering its $15 for the entire season. If you are familiar with MP3s, it sound like its encoded at a fairly low bit rate (so it's kind of twangy).I live just far enough away that WGN radio only comes in when I'm driving my car and not in my house or at work; so for me, it's awesome to be able to listen to the games live.

I'm running
a G5 with Safari. It sounds like I'll only need to download Firefox and I'll be all set. I believe I've already got the most updated Flash player.

There isn't any warring between browsers like Safari and Firefox is there? It sounds dumb, but I've had a lot of issues (with PCs) in the past with programs tying my computer into knots. I keep my Mac streamlined, running only Mac products like ITunes, etc., and it's perfect. I don't want to screw it up. : )

Thanks for your input, Louie. Sounds like you live just as far from Chicago as I do. GN comes in great in the car, but in the house, for whatever reason, it's a crap shoot.

I haven't had any problems
with warring programs.  They all seem to co-exist in the happy mac -land!

I have had trouble
With my macbook and MLBaudio, it may be my own incompetence with downloading programs but I can't get it to work.  I downloaded I've downloaded pretty much every media reader program, i.e. reelplayer, etc., but it doesn't player on my new macbook.

MLB + Apple
Last year Gameday Audio stank to high heaven on the Mac, I had trouble in all browsers and all chips. (Intel, G5, G3) This year it's worked on my MacBook Pro (Intel) just fine, on Firefox.

All in all, it's worth the $15 to listen.

you may need to download this
http://www.flip4mac.com/wmv_download.htm

But it runs oddly on a mac. You may have to stop and restart if you find that it is stuck in a loop. Mac support seems poor.

Not that kind of north side.

Thanks all.
Is that flip4mac a Windows Media Player for Mac type of thing? Given what it says on mlb's site, I was thinking that as long as I had firefox and the latest Flash I'd be able to play the audio. I guess I'll find out tonight.

i thought the flash player is jsut a front end
and it uses quick time or something to actually stream the audio in your browser. I wasnt aware that flash did the live stream audio thing.

There are enough positive reviews now that I dare
ask is it worth subscribing to in 2007?  Can you only listen live or stream or can you download?  I would love to hear Pat and Ron.

Are Gameday Audio Archive files compatible
with iPod?  Are they MP3s that can be transferred to iPod or must you listen through your computer?

I tried MLB and they send me to their FAQs.
