Prior and Wood: An Insiders View

I found this article article by Detroit Tigers pitcher Todd Jones on Prior and Wood. It's interesting to get another MLB pitchers take on their careers/injuries.

While I personally do not expect to see much out of either of them in the future, I would love to see Prior and Wood on the mound next year.

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of SB Nation or Al Yellon, managing editor (unless it's a FanPost posted by Al). FanPost opinions are valued expressions of opinion by passionate and knowledgeable baseball fans.

That horse has been dead a long time. Beating it isn't going to make it move. Let it alone.

Hey Scott!!!
Settle down, pal. The article wasn't posted to re-hash their injuries, whose fault it is and blah blah blah.

It was posted to look at the situation from an MLB Pitchers point of view.

Todd Jones's moustache...
...is sublimely ridiculous.

I actually thought...
this was a nice take on the whole "dead horse" and probably sounds good to these two after all the scrutiny and criticism.

stache reminds me of an old saying, just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.

And Greg Maddux has never been on the disabled list because of -- luck?

by San Diego Smooth Jazz Man on May 1, 2007 3:38 PM CDT reply actions

No
Maddux is just a freak.  Maybe a lucky freak but still a freak.  Same with Cal but being a middle infielder I gotta think luck played a bigger role for him.  Some guys never make it to the big leagues because of injuries, some guys never get taken out of the lineup because of injuries.  Most guys fall somewhere in between.

agreed
it's interesting how sneezing, moving a bbq grill, playing with your kids...whatever players do outside of the game, whatever small thing, will disrupt their time on the field.
