Shinguards

Next controversy for the Cubs.

From today's trib:

Zambrano motioned to reporters standing around the clubhouse and pointed to a box that contained a pair of red shinguards.

"It's a gift from my next catcher, Yadier," Zambrano said.

Zambrano was referring to St. Louis catcher Yadier Molina, although he didn't specify whether he was going to St. Louis or Molina was coming to the Cubs.

---

I guess things aren't all that friendly between Z and Barrett.

Even if it is a joke, what are red shinguards doing in the locker room?

It's probably a joke.
Isn't Molina injured?

I agree he was probably joking...
...though it's still a somewhat spiteful joke considering all the crap Barrett is taking right now. (Deservedly so, but still...)

I found Big Z referring to Michael as his "little" brother to be in a similiar vein. Subconciously or otherwise, he seems to add a certain bitterness to these humorous asides.

Can't this man
just keep his damn mouth shut?

I like his pitching (for the most part), but between the comments about winning the WS and Cy Young, to the Brewers skills, to fighting, and now this...

It seems as though he learned to keep his emotions under control on the field but it is spilling out everywhere else.  Balance Z...balance.

Unfortunately, No...
....he can't kep his mouth shut because he has the maturity level of a 12 year old. That's the problem with Zambrano. Mountains of physical talent, molehills of brains.

big z
i'm probably a bigger fan of big z than anyone. i have been predicting he will be a cardinal next year for quite some time. big z is starting to remind me of another great pitcher who opens his mouth also---pedro. everytime these 2 open their mouth something flies out that annoys the ever loving bleep ouuta me.
Here comes the nasty leftie to shut it down in the 9th......Clay Rapada!!!!

Does Soriano's defense at 2B really cost more runs than in LF? He makes a lot fewer errors in LF since misplays and mental mistakes aren't figured into the stats, but I have to imagine that his mistakes are more physical at 2B. Any thoughts? Is there a statistic on this?
