Girardi's next job?

I was listening to the Braves game on radio last night and heard Pete and Skip make some interesting comments about Joe Girardi. They think that he may have turned down the Baltimore job because it is percieved that Ozzie is about to be fired with the White Sox. If that is the case how bad would it be to see him managing the White Sox (as a Cubs fan)?? I'm not sure if I believe this, but it did get me to thinking...
A- Is Ozzie really next on the firing line and
B- Would Girardi actually take the Sox job? It would get him back home to Chicago.

Interesting.
Would he be offered the job? Maybe. Would he take it? I'm guessing he would, not because of any "return" to Chicago, but because he would probably perceive the Sox organization as better than the Orioles'. I imagine that's why he didn't take the Baltimore job -- that team is a mess.

I watched a video or K.Rosenthal...
and he pointed out there could be many good jobs after the season. I didn't realize there could be like 10 managing positions open.

Apparently...
Don Baylor is also under consideration in Baltimore.

Oh, and if there really are 10 manager's positions open this offseason, I don't see how Dusty doesn't get one of them.

how about ..
bob brenly? how does he not have a managing job???
Here comes the nasty leftie to shut it down in the 9th......Clay Rapada!!!!

Mostly
because he hasn't actively been seeking one.

And Brenly was a pretty bad manager in Arizona.  Having Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling on your team covers up a lot of mistakes.

Don't forget, that the manager under whom Bob Brenly served his apprenticeship was Dusty Baker.

Brenly is much more suited to being in the booth than in the dugout.

I think Girardi is going to wait until the
off season and see if Joe Torre retires or if the new Cubs mgmt does away with Piniella.

I'd be shocked
to see new Cubs mgt part ways with Lou having 2 hefty years on his contract....unless they want him out so bad they make his life so miserable that he would quit.

The new owners
will end up paying around $800M. I hardly think a $6.7M payout to Piniella would cuase them much concern if they wanted their man in there.

We'll have to see.....
losing $6.7 mil with NO return, and including his coaching staff,  I'd be surprised....now if Cuban or someone similar came, that's a different story.

Cuban <smile>
He probably has a 10% chance but you never know. Just as long as the Andrew McKenna isn't one of the buyers I would imagine the new owners will be fairly aggressive in pursuing a strong start.

I use Cuban as an example
without really advocating him.  I worry Cuban, with potentially little Baseball knowledge, would try to impose all of his own ideas regarding the makeup of the team without relying on true 'baseball' people.....However, I'd certainly like to get somebody like him who will be crazy enough to win at all cost!  Truth is, I think that most of the candidates to buy the Cubs we'll really have little idea about.

I've never heard
any suggestion that Mark used any pressure on his people regarding personnel or strategy. But I do know Selig and Reinsdorf pray every night that he isn't in the running.

It's amazing that 2 people with ties to our biggest neighbors might hold the fate of the next ownership group.

Why is Lou leaving?
I don't get the rumor mongering. New ownership is more likely to keep a name manager like Lou. It will help keep up the draw, and the media interest. Hendry is most likely a goner, but not Lou. Whoever gets the Cubs will be a savvy business person. There is little point in flushing away that much money. Of course, if it is a whacko owner you never know.
