McDonough to the Packers?

Fred Mitchell speculates that John McDonough might be headed to the Packers. He also mentions the Blackhawks as a possible destination. Sorry I don't know how to paste a link better than the one below:

Obviously with a future sale of the Cubs, McDonough isn't guaranteed a job. I don't think he's done a bad job in his time in charge. Maybe keeping Hendry wasn't the best decision, but he did (pleasantly) shock me by doing away with the alternate uniforms (and this from a marketing guy!).

You may not like...
... the results on the field. But there is no doubt that McDonough was and is a marketing genius.

Any new owner would be a fool not to at least offer McDonough a position heading marketing for the Cubs again.

Add to that..
the Packers (with a season ticket wait list of 60,000) hardly need a marketing guy. I seriously doubt Packer Nation would embrace a guy from Chicago.
Well, sometimes nothin is a real cool hand.

My guess is
John McDonough is shooting for the President/CEO position with the Green Bay Packers since Bob Harlan is being forced into retirement via Packers bylaws (or whatever they're called) and his heir apparent John Jones flaked out recently and left the team for unknown but personal reasons.

I agree with Al that McDonough is marketing genius and as a person trying to get into a field, a person to emulate. This move would be more for his business savvy, since as noted early, it would take a couple 0-16 years for a mass exodus of season ticket holders to give up their seats.
