Having just finished off the rest of my Chicago-style stuffed pizza from yesterday's trip to Wrigley, it looks like I get a chance to write a morning edition of the minor league wrap.
Iowa Cubs
Sean Gallagher's second AAA start didn't go as well as the first, as he yielded 4 runs in 4 innings, in an I-Cubs loss. Ronny Cedeno and Geovany Soto hit home runs, and Matt Murton went 1-4 with an RBI. Murton is hitting .300/.407/.500.
Unfortunately, Carmen Pignatiello had a horrible game: hit batter, wild pitch, strikeout, walk, walk. Charged with three runs in 1/3 of an inning.
Tennessee Smokies
Against Carolina, Tyler Colvin's 2-3 day was the only high point in a 9-0 loss. Justin Berg had a poor outing, and the rest of the club just had a bad night.
Daytona Cubs
Game postponed due to rain.
Peoria Chiefs
The Chiefs saved the day for the minor league system by outscoring the Burlington Bees 7-1. Several players had two hits each: Camp, Castillo, Lansford, Canzler, Adducci. Jose Pina had an excellent start, throwing 7 shutout innings. He was relieved by Ali Maestri.
Peoria still doesn't have a single player with an OPS over .800.
Boise Hawks
The Hawks lost to Yakima 4-1. Nothing to see here...move along.
AZL Cubs
