Steve Stone on the fight
Thought I'd post this in case some are still wondering about the details. On Steve Stone's segment Monday on 670, he provided some details on the altercation. After Zambrano approached Barrett to berate him, Barrett wasn't pointing at the scoreboard, but at DeRosa to say "he saw the same sign I did", as Barrett was expecting a different pitch than what was thrown. And when Barrett went into the clubhouse, Stone says Barrett went in to smooth things over and Zambrano sucker punched him several times and cut up his lip.
So there you go.

Neither needs to go
I Couldn't Disagree More
In Barrett's case, his poor defensive play is far outweighing is offensive potential. If his hitting woes continue for much longer, I think it would be very wise to shop him around prior to the trading deadline. I think we could get a prospect or two for him and if our scouts are any good they probably already have scenarios worked out in the front office.
I respect
However, as a player and coach, I've seen a ton of altercations between teammates. Maybe 90% occur when the team is going poorly. In almost all cases, they're forgotten and everyone moves on. There is a culture of this within sports.
Let's see what happens in the future before we begin casting aside who were very valuable players prior to this year. PS. I'm not terribly comfortable with allowing Hendry to get fair value for anyone this year.
According to...
Koyie Hill will catch Z tomorrow (day game after night game), but Barrett will catch Z after that.
Yep

I never thought
No one here ever discussed much that the passed ball might've been Z's fault for missing the sign. It makes more sense that the guy reading the sign would misinterpret it than the guy who gave the sign in the first place. I'm guessing Z would've been upset if he thought he hit his spot and Barrett still missed the ball. That's why Barrett would've tried to explain what happened.
I really like Z. I actually still want him to stay. And I'm not a huge Barrett fan, but this one looks like it's on Z. But he has taken the blame and I don't remember him doing this before so, my guess is that this will blowover in a few weeks.
Nobody is holding Ted Lilly's outburst last year against him because he's done well. My guess is that if Z starts heating up, we'll all get over it.

Disagree
I have said this before, Barrett gets crossed up more than any catcher I have ever seen, and I think he forgets what he calls half the time, and gets caught between.
I have learned to take what Stone says with a grain of salt. He contradicts himself quite often, and a few weeks ago, was advocating signing Barrett long term. On Monday, he was back peddling on this quite a bit.

I love Steve Stone, but...
The "story" is this. Zambrano was pissed off that Barrett butchered a play or two behind the plate on a day when he was, once again, pitching like crap. Zambrano displayed his displeasure, and Barrett responded either with words or a mannerism that sent Zambrano over the edge. He confronted Barrett in the dugout. When Barrett went to the clubhouse in an attempt to patch things up, Zambrano didn't want to hear it and proceeded to mop up the floor with him. A day later they kissed and made up, at least in front of the public. End o' story.

I just bet
Unfortunately, as much as I admire Stone's work
He's now on The Score to register an opinion. Not necessarily facts.

Isn't that what they're all paid to do?
The SCORE
The SCORE is the tabloid version of sports radio, that's just the way it is.
