Morrissey Mocks Mid-Season Hope

So, today's Tribune brings the latest wisdom to drop effortlessly from Rick Morrissey's fingertips. For reasons beknownst only to Rick and coming about a week after the fact, Rick has decided to strawman Cub fan optimism and lampoon the Cub fan's burgeoning hope, given the Cubs' midseason resurgence.

I think Rick is way off base here. Moreover, this column is mean-spirited and disingenuous. I don't know what got his Irish up, but he's decided to take it out on Cub fans with this vituperative, bilious, and altogether silly little column.

So, I put the questions to you, the Cub fans.

  1. Do you think the attitudes attributed to Cub fans by Morrissey accurately reflect the actual attitudes of the majority of Cub fans?
  2. Do you think this Cub team, as currently structured, can contend for the World Series?
  3. Do you think that homefield advantage in the World Series is important?
  4. Should the Cubs win the World Series this year, will you have "fond feelings for the guys [at Tribune Company] who wore the suits," keeping in mind that thse men have cheapskated and penny-pinched us to frustration, and added insult to injury by scalping their own tickets?
