NL West is a band of "junk-bond traders."

And I am really pissed that we couldn't muscle our way to 2 victories against that young farm team from my hometown this weekend.  If anyone wants to know, THERE ARE NO good teams in the NL west.  They all stink.  Beyond abyssmal.  If the Padres had any hitting, the Bluejays would beat them out for 3rd in the AL east.

"And one window opens."

The Cubs.

I can't see the Mets siring the #1 spot in the NL right now.  I know about all that has happened up to this point, yet there is no other team in the NL after Lee comes back, than the Cubs.

It is truly our division for the taking.

sorry about the Padres comment
yet it is true.  The NL west is chocked full of fluffy, 150 SS who think they know how to play baseball.  "The hell with those guys."  The baseball culture is quite different as we go west, a it gets quite ugly understanding some of these baseball fans in San Diego or in Chavez Ravine.

And that's why I yell "I'm Done," for every West coast baseball fan each year - they don't know that I'm rooting for the Cubs, nor do I care.

I love the Cubs.

What does this mean?

The Padres and Dodgers
are both very good, but both are flawed.
(I have no idea what that second post from scottsdaleirish means. Perhaps he's been hitting that biker bar on Scottsdale Ave.)

The Padres pitching is the best in baseball. However, they just have mucho problems on offense.
But, they have enough to win the division. There will be no more additions. Anger Management Pt 1 & 2 are going to be their only additions. They will not take on more payroll (But, they could -- but they won't.)

The Dodgers have a bit more hitting. (Nomar is slumping badly, now) The 5th starter is a problem, a few have filled that position.

It's a toss-up there. I have no idea who's gonna win. The last 6 matches between SD and LA might make the difference, only if one of the teams can -- dominate. The 2 teams will be finished with each other by the 13th of September.

What intrigues me is that the Padres close out the season with 4 in Milwaukee. (If that isn't strange scheduling...) What to think about that series -- depending on where we are? Closer to first?  In first? WC lead -- or not?

I hope that series becomes meaningless to us, but for all the right reasons. I suggest if we need one of those teams to lose -- you all better make a trip north, (The Cubs will have closed out their home schedule) and cheer for somebody.

Like last year
the entire NL is flawed, and every contending team is very beatable in a 5 or 7 game series by anyone of 7-8 teams that are contending.

And, oh yeah
The Diamondbacks are NOT a bad team. If you think they are, you didn't watch the weekend series. This team will contend in the NL West next year.
