Is Prince's ejection going to be like Lou's?
Here is my question. When Prince got rung' up and began to argue with the home plate umpire, the replays I saw Fielder seemed to make some contact with the ump. We all know Lou was suspended for making contact with the ump during his eruption. So.............. Prince should get suspended for his contact today, but will he. What are your thoughts and ideas on this situation. I know this is a big streach coming up the rest of this month for both teams and with out him it would hurt them some. Could this prove to be costly for the Brewers or will they cruise by without him if and when he is suspended.

And ned yost
Correct me if need be
So Ned and Prince should be gone
If they made contact,
I hope
Will he? Our luck no.
Is this something he can appeal? If he does could it go without being served until next year?
Regardless if Brewers lose him for even 2 games we need to take advantage of it!
we're talking about the brewers right.?
nope no conflict of interest here
Why is it...
Further, Selig does not make decisions on suspensions. Bob Watson does. And he's been pretty tough, or at least tried to be, and sometimes tougher than he had to be.
I don't own the Cubs
I'm not sure what you mean.
You were saying
There isn't.
I am guessing...
I'd be willing to buy that, maybe... certainly moving the team to Milwaukee in the first place was quite an expression of ego by Selig.
Sure, it was.
He sold the Brewers off and moved on several years back.
I just don't think Selig is going to make this decision, nor is he going to make ANY decision with regard only to his former team.
The last thing he did as commissioner that really benefitted the Brewers was getting them moved to the National League. That was NINE YEARS AGO.
You all can take your tinfoil hats off now.
I find that the tin foil really brings out...
Also
No, he doesn't.
I assume that
Here's some more info.
The CEO of any company -- and that's what Selig is -- will generally delegate authority to his/her department heads, which is what Jimmie Solomon is. Any CEO who puts his/her hands in every single little decision is asking for trouble. Micromanagers rarely succeed.
I suppose Selig COULD have the final say on all suspensions, but I doubt he'd get involved in this one, nor was he likely involved in the decision on the Piniella and Derrek Lee suspensions.
You're making an assumption because Selig lives in Milwaukee and USED TO own the Brewers, that he'd get involved in such a decision. You may not like Selig -- and I don't like every single thing he's done -- but I'd think he has enough integrity to leave these decisions to the people he has put in place to make them.
What evidence has Selig given
I think you're asking the wrong question.
If you've got any, let's see it.
before this year
Also with him being the CEO
I still haven't seen...
Like I said, you can take your tinfoil hat off now.
Al
However it appears, in my opinion, that Bud let his personal feelings get involved in his handeling of Bonds hitting 756...being reminded to stand (with hands in pockets) when bonds tied the record...not being there when the record is broken...bringing up the questioning of the record during his congratulatory statement...
Now it doesn't seem unreasonable to assume if his personally feelings effect one part of his job then it could be called into question if another part of his job could be affected. for example i question why when there were talks about consolidation (Twins/expos) why weren't the brewers mentioned...how come the brewers got shipped into the NL central during realignment...
The problem is Bud opens himself up for criticism by being a former owner of a team he now governs and could therefore be linked to that team, wether fair or not. This is something the other major sports do not do.
Roger Goodell...NFL Commish...former COO off NFL never owned a team
David Stern...NBA Commish...Former NBA Lawyer and Ex. VP of the NBA never owned a team.
I agree with you...
However -- directly interfering in a pennant race by influencing a suspension of a single player? I can't believe that he'd do that. He might be a former car dealer, but he's got to have that much integrity.
There is no way rgiht now to tell
Didn't Lou...
