Thanks to cwyers for also filling in for Josh this week. No games had finished when I went to bed last night, so here's another morning edition.
Iowa Cubs
Will Ohman has been located. He pitched in the 8th inning last night, yielding one hit and one walk, with one K. The I-Cubs lost 2-0. Geovanny Soto's two hits were the offensive highlight. Cory Bailey gave up two runs in 7 innings of work. Hee Haw salute to Marion, IL! Bailey last appeared in the majors with KC in 2002. He pitched in the independent leagues last year, and has appeared in 38 games with Iowa.
Tennessee Smokies
Lost 9-5 to Chattanooga. See stelmodad's diary about the game.
Daytona Cubs
Also lost, 9-1 to St. Lucie. Move along, nothing to see here. OK, 24th round pick Scott Meyer made his first appearance in High A, tossing two shutout innings in relief. He pitched in 10 games in the Arizona Rookie League.
Peoria Chiefs
Hey, a victory! The Chiefs beat Kane Cty. 5-1. Jose Ceda struck out the side in his one inning of work.
Boise Hawks
Chris Huseby (6 IP) and three other pitchers shut out Yakima 11-0. Obviously, several players had good nights on offense. Dylan Johnston and Chris Richardson had three hits apiece, and Tony Thomas scored four runs in the leadoff spot. I wonder if Thomas will jump to High A for next season.
AZL Cubs
Did not play.
