Rain, rain go away, come again after Monday. Ticket already in my hand, a double-header would be just grand!
Iowa Cubs
Les! (clap-clap, clap-clap) Walrond! (clap-clap, clap-clap) Wins! (clap-clap, clap-clap) That's right: another quality start from the BCB favorite led the I-Cubs to victory against the Cardinals AAA affiliate. Gee, Soto's still hot, with a single, walk, and two runs scored. Buck Coats, Matt Craig, Carlos Rojas and Les Walrond (clap-clap, clap-clap) had two hits each. Cory Bailey got his fifth save. BTW, Eric Patterson played centerfield.
From today's game notes:
Tennessee Smokies
Inactive. The team has a shot at the playoffs, currently two games out in the North division, with 15 left to play.
Daytona Cubs
Greg Reinhard threw 7 shutout innings toward a win at Palm Beach. Brian Dopirak had another two hits and a walk. Daytona also has 15 games left in the season. Maybe one or two players might be promoted to AA to bolster Tennessee's playoff run. Could the Cubs want Jeff Samardzija to get a little playoff experience?
Peoria Chiefs
A poor start by Mike Bartek doomed the Chiefs. The final score was 13-4. Marquez Smith has had a good week in A ball after being promoted from Boise.
Boise Hawks
Game underway as of this posting.
AZL Cubs
Did not play.
