Fallout from the signing of Z

The "small Market" Padres are beginning to squirm, as there is one ace pitcher in southernmost Southern California who is ready to go to the bank in 2 years:

From the SD Union-Tribune:

Zambrano has his -- now, I will want mine when the time comes, says Jake Peavy -- and it may not be in San Diego!

Of course, it wouldn't be a Padres story if there wasn't some Cub-bashing along the way:

Sandy Alderson, Padres President on XX Sports Radio, responding to Peavy's comments:

(with thanks to Gaslamp Ball)

"If the Cubs think that signing Soriano and Zambrano for that kinda money will win them their first world series since the American Revolution, maybe thats why they havent won a WS."

Perhaps Alderson should keep his comments to himself until he can get into an El Camino and actually advance past the Cardinals. He hasn't been in town that long, but he sure fits in with the small-towners here who have to bash the big-city team. Boo-friggin' hoo.

If you don't like the hand you've been dealt -- quit -- and find a 'richer, and bigger one.'
