Minor League Wrap -- August 25, 2007

Iowa Cubs

How about that Ronny Cedeno?  Back in AAA, he goes 2-for-3 with an RBI...and an error.  The pitchers were the story, though, as Iowa beat New Orleans 2-1.  Kevin Hart started, and four relievers, including Will Ohman and Clay Rapada, held the Zephyrs.  Soto went 0-4.  Josh Kroeger pinch-hit unsuccesfully.

Tennessee Smokies

Not a lot of interesting events in the Smokies' 6-5 loss to Chattanooga.  Tyler Colvin did go 1-3 and Sam Fuld, playing RF, threw out a runner at the plate.

Daytona Cubs

Dropped a decision to Vero Beach.  Matt Matulia, Jeff Rea, and Jon Mota had two hits each.

Peoria Chiefs

14th round pick James Russell made his A-ball debut after pitching one game in the AZL.  His three scoreless innings started off a shutout.  Good job by the Longhorn.  Wellington Castillo hit the only home run, and several other players contributed hits.  Jose Ceda struck out four in two innings.

Boise Hawks

Underway as of this posting.

AZL Cubs

Losing as of this writing.  Check the link for the box score later.
