I have debated posting this as a question in the minor league roundups, or as a seperate diary...and I finally decided it should be it's own diary.
I was wondering about something. As I don't really follow the minor leagues as much as I would like to , and I have not been able to see or hear any games, I was wondering...
now that the season is almost over...what is your assessment of Ryne Sandberg as a manager. Did it look like he has the stuff to be a successful manager in the minors and eventually manage or coach in the Majors, or was he just a name out there going through the motions? I have read some puff pieces on him, but I want the real assessment from people who have watched him and followed him through the year.
Also, I was impressed last year with the job that Jody Davis did in Peoria last year, and so must have been the Cubs since they promoted him to manage Daytona this year. Between the 2 former players, who has the better future as a possible big league manager? Davis or Sandberg?
