BCB Site Note - Especially For New Members

I really, really, really hate having to post this, but after about the 15th email this week asking me the same question, I'm going to post this here.

What question is this? I've had many, many, too many, new registrants ask why they can't post after registering.

The welcome email that comes with the registration link after you sign up makes it clear:

There is a 24-hour waiting period before you can post your first comment. In the meantime, please read and enjoy!

Thanks for understanding. (The 24-hour waiting period goes for your first diary, too.)

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of SB Nation or Al Yellon, editor-in-chief (unless it's a FanPost posted by Al). FanPost opinions are valued expressions of opinion by passionate and knowledgeable baseball fans.

So make
sure you all register prior to the 7th game of the WS. You certainly want to post after the Cubs win that one!

this provides for adequate time to perform
adequate background checks in order to make sure that nobody else knows or has access to Al's reliable 'source' ;-)....kidding of course

Actually, I'm sure it keeps
people from creating new accounts just to post something in the heat of the moment. Such as people who already have an account, but don't want their comment to be known under their normal ID. As I type this Cliffy just went yard..... Yes!

Actually, I would assume
that this would detract people from coming over, creating a new account, and blasting the Cubs.  You know, like when they're playing the Cards or Brewers or something.

I actually noticed this, because some comments finally prompted me to create an account and respond, but then I couldn't for 24 hours (per the email). And then, of course, I couldn't remember where the original comment was, so I couldn't even respond to it.  Alas, such is my luck.

Yeah...
This entry is totally my fault.  I'm the idiot new guy who e-mailed Al asking why he couldn't post yet.

I'm sorry.

Before each game, please remember to feed the bats.

Thanks.
Rest assured you're not the only one. I wouldn't have posted this diary if there had been only one email.

Hey Al
this is kind of off the subject, but can you make it so we can post in the Why Are We Here Diary again? I just love reading all the different ways the Cubs have affected our lives. I thought that I had posted in there before, but I was reading through the enteries and didn't see mine. I would like to share as I am sure many newbies would too.

Good point.
I'll open it up again. See the right sidebar under "BCB Specials".

I tried to post on there,
but it still won't allow comments. If you haven't gotten to it yet, no big deal, but I just wanted to let you know in case something isn't working right.
