Good DeRosa Quote

"What's amazing is, I find myself in the middle of a game thinking about people sitting in sports bars and living rooms in the Chicago area, and how we can't let them down, that kind of thing," ...

This is nice and all...
but I believe there's a rule where you can't post full articles...A link would be nice.

Thanks.
Yes, there is such a rule, and it's to avoid being sued for copyright violations.

I am going to edit this diary for that and find the link.

Excerpts?
A couple relevant/illustrative grafs (nicely "blockquoted" are OK, yes?  (AKA a "pullquote" or two?)

Yes, absolutely...
... in fact, that's really the preferred way of doing it. See my game thread from this morning for an example.

It's a good quote, but ...
it also reveals the burden under which a lot of these guys must be playing.

I don't think you can divorce the Cubs' sad history from its current players, at least in the respect of expectations. For most franchises, if they don't make it to the postseason or falter there, it isn't as soul-sapping as it is for the Cubs. That's not the fault of these players.

At the same time, when they do win it all, none of them will ever have to buy a drink or dinner in Chicago (and much of the Midwest) ever again.

Thanks Al
Sorry about that.  Thanks for fixing it.

DeRossa got it half right
As everyone on this blog knows it is not just CHICAGO area
sports bars and living rooms.

DeRosa
reminds me more and more of Karros on the 03 club.  Karros seemed to be in tune with the history and was soaking it all in.  DeRosa seems to be doing the same.

I know also...
... that Karros was a quiet clubhouse leader on that team. I wonder if DeRosa is doing the same thing this year.

I think he is
being a positive influence in the clubhouse, just as Karros was in 03.

Insight?
And you think that because.... ?

Do you have anything, anything at all, to make you think this?

by big_lowitzki on Sep 17, 2007 9:33 AM CDT up reply actions

Since I am not in the clubhouse
I am only relying on my own observations on how DeRosa carries himself both on the field and listening to his interviews.

I could be completely off base on this, but it is what I have perceived.

I can verify that...
...from things I've heard Piniella say. Nothing against the obvious stars on this team, but de Rosa is his favorite player by a mile for a myriad of reasons.
