How many other Minnesotans here? UPDATED

And more to the point, how many would like to find some nice local watering hole to descend on "en masse" and shout and scream at the TVs if the playoff thing truly does happen?

Might be fun...

Let me know roughly where you are, and any suggestions for possible good places, by posting replies here, and let's see how this develops.

Thanx...

Update [2007-9-17 11:23:18 by MN exile]: While I do enjoy adult beverages, I am not really a "bar" person that much. I attribute this to the fact that I'm a 30+ year non-smoker, and the smoking bans are recent additions - so every time I went to First Ave., for example, I'd hate that my clothing would reek afterwards. So let's see about some good suggestions - ideally with a big screen or lots of multiple screens, and good beer - as in dark, thick, almost "chunk-style" brews. Oh yes, and decent bar food will help.

Minnesotan here
I live in St. Paul right next to the University of St. Thomas.  One place that isn't to bad is the Cardinal (yeah, I know, bad connotation), it's right next to the Light Rail line so it's easy to find and easy to get to.

Eagan MN here
I'd love have someone else to shout at the TV with.      Especially come playoff time.
It's hard to be humble when you're number one.

Hudson, Wisconsin
I am about a half hour from the twin cities. Barker's is a great Chicago type bar and grill in this area. Killer Bison burgers, flat screen tv's.

Just throwing that out there.

I'd be
game, but I live in Bemidji...  Let's do it up here!  A great option a few years ago would have been Tom's Resort in Cass Lake.  Tom Accardo (yes, Tony "Joe Batters," or "The Big Tuna" Accardo's nephue) used to own a nice place right on the lake, but it shut down last year.  And the kicker was that Tom was a minor leaguer for the Cubs in the '40's!  He had a ton of Cubs memorabilia around the restaurant/bar.  Plus, being Tony's nephue, he cooked some mean Italian food, so Thursday's Italian night was great!

Anyway, if you do find a place in the Cities, I do travel a bit for my job (I'll be in the St. Cloud area in a couple weeks), so maybe I could join you...

Me too
Was in St. Paul, near Hamline University.

Now in Eagan, MN.

Seems to be weighting towards the East Metro
Not a problem for me - I'm a St. Paulite myself.

I do know one guy in the W. Metro who will likely join in, not sure if he posts - or lurks - here.

That said, let's look at suggestions on the St. Paul side.

Alary's?
It's a Bears bar but I'd imagine it'd be showing Cubs game too.

Alary's?
Not sure.  I'm actually very close to the place, so I'd probably have it the easiest of anyone, but I also know people tend to not want to come into DT St. Paul - they claim there's never parking.  I know that to be a mistaken impression, but it is still in people's minds.

Maybe as the postseason gets closer I'll go over and check it out.  Maybe talk to the people who run it and get their thoughts.

Still, any other suggestions are welcomed...

Parking ramp
attached to the building.

I know...
I'm just echoing the comments of people I know who tend to not come into DT St. Paul.

I wouldn't need the ramp, BTW.  For me it's more of a short walk...

Was in Apple Valley for 3 months
this summer for a work assignment. It was nice. For the most part though, I didn't care for a lot of the people there. Especially all the white kids who thought their first names were Jamaal or fitty cent. What's up wit dat Minnesotans'?

My assessment of Minnesota is, it's a very pretty state with jackass inhabitants.

by lemon20pie on Sep 17, 2007 11:43 PM CDT reply actions

Your opinion...
It's apparent that not all the jackasses live in MN.  Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

i seem to remember a real foul stench
about three months back hovering here, thanks for helping me figure that one out!

Let me just say, please don't come back any time soon.
