Push for the Playoffs WGN Video Package

Wasn't sure if this had been posted yet on the site, but if it had then feel free to delete this diary, Al. Anyway, I saw many people were asking about the 2007 highlight montage that WGN played earlier today during their push for the playoffs special, so here it is:

Enjoy, and lets go cubbies!!

Thanks for posting that
We don't get the pre-game and post-game stuff on MLB.TV, so I missed it.

Anyone know anything about the music?
I'm not crazy about the song, but it suits the piece pretty well. At least it's not the Goo Goo Dolls.

My wife says...
...it is a new song from Silverchair. I never doubt her as she is usually right.

re: My wife says...
Silverchair? The late-90s Australian wannabe grungers with the lead singer who looked creepily like Kurt Cobain?! Never heard of 'em.
Don't tase me, bro!

The song is called...
...Straight Lines and is indeed from those same late '90s Aussie rockers.

Thanks
Thanks I liked the song.

I also liked the song they used a few years ago "One thing"

Although the best video song they have ever used was "Keeping the Dream Alive"

The hopes we had were much to high
way out of reach but we had to try
the game will never be over
Cause we're keeping the dream alive

Hadn't seen it.  Great vid.

They had a similar video in 2003
which used "Times Like These" by Foo Fighters.  They aired it on the last day of the season, the home game where they retired Santo's number, and the day after they had clinched the Central with a DH sweep.

I can't find it on YouTube - maybe I'll see if I can digitize and post it.

Similar feelings on that one too - nice job all around by the WGN people.

Good song
I've been trying to find the name too.

I've come up with this list of good songs as we hopefully progress.

The division "Time of Your Life" By Green Day.  "It was something unpredictable but in the end was right, I hope you had the time of your life" and also the start could refer to Lou Pinella's arrival "Another turning point a fork stuck in the road"

Wild Card:  "These are the Days" by Van Morrison
One line says it all "The fires of spring are kindling bright"

NLCS:  "Winners" by Frank Sinatra.  It's the best song for the step before the final step.  Because of the lines "Here's to the winners let's raise our glasses here's to the glory still to be"

World Series:  The Obvious.  We are the Champions.  And if you listen to the lyrics when the Cubs finally win it may never have been more fitting.

Are you aware....
... that "Time of Your Life" is about a guy who just got dumped by his girlfriend?

This reminds me of all the people who think Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the USA" is a patriotic anthem.

"That's my opinion and if you don't like it, well, I have others." ~ Groucho Marx

re: Are you aware....
Let's just call it even and make the theme song "Louie Louie" by the Kingsmen.
