St. Louis Area Cub Fans

It has been cool to see some fans from cities all around trying to get together and watch games here at the end of the season.  Are there any fans in the St. Louis area that are already getting together somewhere?  If not, are there some people here who would like to find a place to watch some games?  Hopefully we will clinch Friday or Saturday which would be fun to get together.  What kind of interest is out there and what do you have any ideas for places to go?

I work in Maryland Heights
but have a hard time catching my breath around all these Cardinal fans.

I work right down the street from the Pujols 5 restaurant...maybe we could start a large ruckus down there, haha.

Maryland Yards
I have lived in Maryland Heights for a little over a year now and am loving every minute of the bitter cardinals fans in the area.  They have completly given up on their team and even announced next year as a lost cause already as well.  I live with 2 cardinals fans and sudo cardinals fan ( his reasoning is he should like them because he lives there).  I proudly have my W flag up in my room along with lots of other Cubs stuff around to rub it in.  Maryland Yards is a bar right in town that is fun to go to and its even more fun to wear Cubs gear there for the harrassment.  I plan to watch the games there this year in payback for having to watch the Cardinals win the NLCS on my birthday there...So lets overpower the cardinal red with the Cubbie Blue the next month...what do you say?

I actually work
right down the street from there, off Weldon Parkway.  I've been to that Maryland Yards many a time for lunch - I like the atmosphere there.

I'm sure if we get enough people, we could overrun any Cardinal fan contingent.

Changed the title of this diary.
It read "St. Louis Fans". Figured you might get more people in here if they knew you meant CUB fans!

I didn't even notice that.

I knew
there were more of you.  I live downtown.  I have a hard time going to any bars to watch the Cubs because stupid drunk Cardinal fans always go against you.  In 2003, I used to live in Edwardsville, IL about 25 minutes from downtown.  I had no problem going to the bars there because half of the people were Cub fans, especially a place called Shananigans.
PC load letter, what the f*** does that mean?

by cubfaninSTL on Sep 27, 2007 10:29 AM CDT reply actions

Been to Shananigans
many times back in the day.  Used to live in Collinsville - recently moved to Godfrey.  I agree...much easier to find a good bar for Cub games on the IL side.  Anything downtown would be a three ring circus along with people bringing up new, great, & inventive jokes about 1908.

Regional...
Hard to get down there during the week b/c of work, but living in Hannibal, I'd love to join some other sane people for a celebration!  I'll keep looking for more info...

I am a maryville resident as well
If I had to go watch the game this weekend in the STL area...I would go to Shennigans or Laurie's in Edwardsville.  Both at least fly the Cub's flag and you will probably get a few north siders who are down here for college to show up.

I was in Kriegers last year for a Bear's game and they place was pretty much jammed up with Bear's fans.

I will be in Detroit this weekend seeing the Griese Monkey and the Rx Bears try to squeeze a victory out of Lions.

I live and work out in West County... 270 & Manchester area to be exact.  Anyways, I'm totally down with this idea, considering that I don't know any other Cubs fans in the area.  Harpo's in Chesterfield or Hot Shots in Manchester/Ballwin could both be good ideas.  Both of those places are pretty good sports bars, yet slow on Saturday afternoons.

We need to keep this diary going...
I live out in St. Peters, and my brother (also a Cubs fan) lives in Edwardsville).  We are both transplants from Quincy, IL.  If there is a consensus on where a good spot to go is during the playoffs, then that would be cool.

go cubs go
I live in O'Fallon, IL, and if we can find a place to watch the Cubbies in the playoffs, please let me know, we need to pack Wrigley Field South with Cubs fans.

This is great!
The response to this diary has been great.  Why don't try to start deciding on a place to meet up.

We have had responses from Edwardsville, IL all the way to St. Peter's, MO.  I am thinking that we try to find a place somewhere in between.  Maryland Heights or the Chesterfield valley might be good places.  Manchester/Ballwin might also be a good area.  I would suggest a bar/restaurant that is not very smoky AND that also has the Extra Innings package.  My wife is pregnant so we will not want to go somewhere that is filled with smoke.  And then I know the playoffs will not be on EI, but if we find a good location with EI, wouldn't it be cool to meet up once a month or something during next season.  Maybe we can tart a St Louis Cubs Fan Club.  Anyways, are there any suggestions out there?   Do we want to do some little local place, or a bigger chain like Buffalo WIld WIngs?  I live out in St Charles and there is a good little local place called Gameday Sports Bar and Grill that has the EI package.

How far are people willing to travel?  How organized do we want to be?  Should we get a small group to call each other and make a decision?

Let's get something decided and try to get together for the first Night playoff game!

It doesn't matter how far we go into Missouri... it's all good. Remember, if we play Arizona, those are going to be LATE playoff games, so who knows. I am all for it though. Just let me know.

actually
not to seem like a know it all...but the mlb and tv stations set the times according to EST...so all the games would start at say...7pm eastern and then never change, so all cub games would be on at six...dont quote me on the time for sure but it is very similiar to the FOX saturday set up...
