for those who are tired of all the ledge jumpers and those who call the players and coaches names.

Hope the Cubs are fired up and get a win tonight and the Brewers lose another one.

For all those going to the game tonight cheer loud and strong for our guys.

I hope there are enough words to post this diary.

during the game, but I believe this is the night.  Maddux knocking the Brewers out so the Cubs can get in is too perfect not to happen.

 I got $10 that says you won't be able to stay away. I think it might get kinda lonely in here. Unless the Cubs jump out to a 5-0 lead in the 1st inning. then maybe I'll swing by as well.

just to avoid that juvenile scumbucket who thinks the game threads are the perfect place to laugh at the ugly and the disabled all the time.

He's got me thinking of quitting the site.

I'm hoping
this will all blow over in the off-season and we can get a fresh start then.

But if it doesn't, then I can't see sticking around, especially since I'll have a ten week old daughter by Opening Day next season.

My first kid!  Let's get a World Series for the Cubs by the time she's born.

 Since that's the only thing that a little bit of crap in would make any kind of difference.

 Swimming in fresh water, with a little bit of crap? I'm sure I have, it's only inevitible. Still walking (and flying).

I think our Cubs are great.  They have played remarkably these past 3 mos.  You are right Sue, they deserve more than the crappy comments the ledge jumpers have been giving - geez, they must have only been Cub fans for a few years - cuz if you've been around for the last 35 yrs, you would know better !!!

The bad thing is ....
that our team won't know they've clinched until they are off the field --  I want to see them jumping for joy !!!  Will they go into the clubhouse and watch the Brewer game and celebrate in there ?

and the Cubs clinch, CSN Chicago will go straight to the clubhouse in Cincy to show the celebration and do interviews.

I'm a little bummed
that I'm going to have to listen to the Reds broadcast of this game.  But it could be worse--George Grande is a professional and won't be obnoxious.

We could be playing the Brewers, Cardinals or D-Backs and having to listen to their announcers instead.

think it's rather presumptuous of the Brewer fans (and their obnoxious announcing team) to keep showing fans in the ballpark with banners of goats and Cub logos?

Let see all those great Brewer world championships.  Oh, that's right, there aren't any.

At least we've been to the playoff four times since 1982.  And we've had winning seasons since 1992.

Brewer fans are not ones to be talking about our losing.

Zambrano getting out of the first without allowing a run is huge for him.  He always seems to gain confidence from that.

I love the mlb commercial they just played
its some kid saying Ryan Howard taught him to be patient and wait for the right pitch...ummm note to MLB marketing people.  Ryan Howard may not be the best person for advertising patience at the plate. 200 Ks anyone?

it makes lots of sense.  Ryan strikes out a lot because he waits for his pitch.  He gets two strikes on him a lot and then misses the pitch he's waiting for.

I think Ryan is a very patient hitter.  He's walked 106 times this season as well.

FYI, I'm breaking my silence in game threads to observe that last night Padres win was HUGE. I didn't expect it, with the kid pitching, and an early-AM arrival for the team. The Brewers were the team that appeared to be in a sleepwalk.

With Maddux no longer dependable -- he looks older every start -- that win last night for the Cubs was plain, and simple -- a gift.

As I watch the celebration
This seemed impossible in April & May. WGN's "Lou" promo ran over and over and over...as the Cubs lost, lost, and lost some more.

Lou kept saying..."We're gonna win here." I kept hearing that promo, and said to myself...yeah, yeah, yeah.

I didn't think it to be possible. WGN should pull that promo out of the library -- it rings absolutely true. The timing was early.

There's more work to do. I hope they are up to it.
