September 4, 2007...Men vs. Boys.....
Let's see who's bellyin up (or as NOT Bruce would say...mannin up)....
MEN -- St. Louis Card ooopss..Deadturd offense...a stellar example of clutch hitting...6 of their 10 baserunners (and one of those were erased in a DP)scored tonight...an excellent blood lusting hungry and EFFICIENT 4/9 LOB choke factor.....while their pitching basically got the Pirates to pull a Chicago Cub...2 of 13 baserunners scoring....10/17 CHOKE FACTOR....and Honorable mention to Chris Duncan...a .264 hitting outfielder...who ai'nt afraid to step up and WIN....3 RBI's tonight to have 69....nobody in the Cub outfield is even close ...
BOYS...as is the case all year...all the Hendry chicken$hit$ are afraid to win...2 of 11 baserunners...and the little PITP's....chicken$hit$ GIDP'd 4 times (actually 5 times....guess the ninth led to more choking)...whick certainly helped the 6/14 choke factor...still waiting for those names.....
CUB OFFENSE CHOKE ROSTER
D.Lee in the first...guess thats the home run pressure price to pay.
4th..Kendalll...but Honorable mention to Jones..who probably coulda easily done it himself with the FC....nice set up Jones.
6th ---The usual suspect...Jones...
8th..DWard...this is becoming an all around offense failure...
9th...who else....Jones again.....
HENDRY...Thanks for this fu^%&in OFFENSE....
I'll name names once ESPN updates the box score to where we can start pinning blame....CHOKASAURUS CUB...I now have....
MEN Ney York Yankees....BLAST their closest wild card rival
MEN ... Milwaukee Brewers...Clutch pitching leads to an awful cublike 10/22 in runners left on base for the Astros......
Go ahead ans start the flames....but this is clutch time people...and this is EXACTLY WHAT I'm COMPLAINING ABOUT ALL YEAR

D Ward had a good game
He killed that rally
I was kinda pointing that out....
stupid
So I guess that the...
like Chipper Jones, Ray Durham, Brian McCann and Miguel Cabrera.........
You cant be serious?
Seriously this is 5th grader behavior, Jones has been the only constant the past month. You cannot blame one guy for losing last night. Seriously, how many runs did we score? 2, how many RBIs did Jones have 1. Rest of the team 1.
Look else where my friend.
Agreed 100%
Cubs' fans are the best at ignoring mistakes and poor-play by their favorite players and hammering those who have played so well.
You don't blame one guy for a team loss - I swear some of these douchebag-"cub fans" just want to pounce on guys like jones --

Bottom line...
What do we do when we lose a few in a row? We dont play as a team.
Simply, no need to blame anyone or point fingers or do this or do that. They win as a team and lose as a team.
Also lets not forget, we are still in first, and we only lost two games. If you fans are going to blow up like this after every lose from here on out, the hospitals are going to be full of heart attack patients!
angry fans are not good analysts
Lilly pitching today is a good start but I think a change in lineup with Soriano moving down, (2nd or 3rd) and Soto starting might help.
I was at the game....
"if i was the coach right now, i think for tomorrows game i would have the first 9 batters bunt." Dont care what happened or what the situation was but all nine batters in a row bunt"
Bunting is a fundamental tool in baseball and it involves watching the ball into the bat. We as of late we all know what has happened when we need a clutch bunt. Nothing. I think there is a lack of concentration and lack of watching the ball to the bat. I personally think that it will get alot of guys seeing the ball better and concentration more on normal abs.
Just my thoughts.
3rd at what with RISP?
runners 1st and 2nd...1 out....sharp single...bases loaded...next batter GIDP..
Team average with risp... .500
A meaningfuls stat would be how many runners/RISP score....
Jones...
The offense is wretched.
According to the Cub hitters, and all you Rosies, everyone starting (pitching) in the NL is Cy Young....always an excuse....
re: Jones...
Until the bullpen gave it up, the Cubs were playing competitive baseball last night.
Yes....
But...where we disagree is I say the offense blew it by failing big in scoring opportunities...you say the bullpen let the team down....
Please elaborate...
But it is Derek Lee.
We had 4 different players touch first base in the first inning. Zero touched third. Just an FYI Jones did not bat in the first. You could also call out DeRosa for swinging at the first pitch in the first inning after Penny walked two straight guys on 8 straight pitches.
But it is DeRosa.
Or how about in the 5th the Dodgers got 2, and then we come up to bat and see 7 pitches, and Penny is back in the dugout?
Responding to both posts...
I meant to be calling out the whole offense. I guess it does look like I'm picking on Jones...but as I did point out, he wasn't the only one who hit into DP's....he just hit into the most.
D. Lee less the HR Sunday is in a funk...A Ram is in a funk...
Look....this team desperatly needs to score some runs
then lay off of jones....

re: Yes....
I mainly disagree with all this "manning up" business. If you meant all that boys/men stuff as a joke, I just think you stretched it a bit too far.
...and if
Still dont get your point?
In our last 4 wins, Jones has gone, 2-4,1-4,0-3,0-3. Those are not stellar numbers but the Cubs won. So if he hits like crap in wins, and hits like crap in loses why do you blame him for the loses, and not give him credit for the wins?
Are you forgeting that there is still 26 games left? Or do you just want to hate someone and be a downer on the Cubs. To be honest, you are starting to sound like a Brewer fan a few weeks ago.
We played a sub 500 August and ended up in first. Why are you giving up so quickly?
And the month is four games old
Ever hear of "small sample size"?

Well
The cubs chances are exactly the same one way or the other.
There are 25 games left.
That just might do it. 83 wins got it done last year.
I think the Cubs can do better than that, too.
No need for me to flame you
Why don't you take some Valium before you come back here again, OK?
A disgrace to the real Ken Hubbs, indeed.

Interesting writing style...
"...all the Hendry chicken$hit$ are afraid to win..."
LOL. Yeah, that's the problem. The Cubs are afraid to win. That's why they've clawed their way back from eight games under (or whatever it was) earlier in the season to seize control of first place IN SEPTEMBER.
News flash: Brad Penny is a great pitcher. The Cubs aren't the first team he's shut down this year. Get over it. And stop equating wins and losses with a team's masculinity -- that's a juvenile and unimaginative approach that only further weakens your already anemic point.
