OT: heath ledger dead at the age of 28.

for those who might care...the actor was found dead in nyc this afternoon. he was best known for his role in the movie brokeback mountain, and his current role as the joker in this summers new batman the dark knight movie. a shame that another young star is gone far too soon. from the preview clips of the dark knight, he did a fantastic job at being the joker. other films include the patriot with mel gibson and a knights tale, plus many others.

It's sad...

Shot Dark Knight in Chicago
I wonder if they have to go back there to re-shoot scenes or if he's going to stay in the role.

It's a real sad shame.

Re:
It's a real sad shame about someone young losing their life.  I didn't want anyone to think I meant it was a shame they'd have to re-shoot anything.

not to be callous, but...
It's a real sad shame about someone young losing their life.

to say he lost his life doesn't appear to be  quite accurate, it may be that he took his life.

one who has lost their life, at a young age, would be someone like my father, who died of leukemia at the age of 37.

if ledger committed suicide i, for one, have no sympathy for his drastic actions.

True
But we don't know how Ledger died yet, so until then it's a sad thing.

true
that's why i used the words "appear" and "if".

very true!
Probably sad for his little girl either way

further reason, if his death was self-imposed, why such an act is so cowardly and vainglorious.

I feel bad for those he left behind....
if it is in fact a suicide.  I too have little sympathy for people that take their own life, I've seen firsthand what it does to families too many times

While I am sorry for the loss of your father...
I think you take a very narrow minded and cruel stance on suicide.  As a mental health professional, I feel much differently about suicide.

While you are correct that it is a drastic decision...you are so very presumptuous to state that it is cowardly.  You clearly have no idea what the mentally ill deal with in day to day life because if you did, you would not make such an inconsiderate comment.

Something tells me you knew this though since you prefaced it with "not to seem callous".

Seems you saw a good opportunity to share your rather shallow views on suicide and didn't mind at all using this tragic scenario as your launching pad.

I for one do not appreciate your opinion and think that you ought to think twice before you choose to make such a strong statement at someones' expense.

Rather disturbing really...

Do you think he has no idea or does something tell you he knows something?

Nevertheless, I don't think debating the psychology behind suicide is the right topic for this baseball blog anyway.

azweber9...
your pompous and utterly ignorant attempt to capture my sentiment, in this regard, does not warrant any further rebuttal other than what i currently offer.

good evening to you.

Pompous and ignorant huh?
You my insensitive friend, are the ignorant one here.

You showed no concern for the feelings of others when you posted such a disgusting response to the news of someone's death.  I don;t care what religion you are or how conservative you are...I guarantee that if it were a member of your family who lost their life to suicide, you would not be so eager to bash their actions.

Turns out the claim is that it was accidental but this does not change the fact that your post was obnoxious and offensive.

You believe what you want, I will say again, suicide or not, it is tragic that someone has lost their life and I for one, wish that it could have been avoided.

You stay up on your high horse though, I'm sure that is where you have spent much of your selfish life.

Good day to you.

No Offense
But I think you were way out of line to attack what I wrote.  It wasn't meant for a debate, just a comment and you took one word way out of your context.  It just wasn't necessary...

i beg to differ...
But I think you were way out of line to attack what I wrote.

attack??? way out of line?

are you certain that is the manner you wish to classify my response to your post? the last thing i intended to accomplish was to hold myself out as being in "attack" mode, i'm far too along in life to take that path.

you may want to consider my rebuttal as being nothing more than engaging in dialogue and integrity-based discussion. as shocking as it may be, one can disagree in a non-combative manner.

for the sake of everyone on this site, let us get back to the real reason we are all here...BASEBALL!!!

Dark Knight Work Completed
According to AICN, Heath's work on The Dark Knight has all been completed so he could work on his new role.

http://aintitcool.com/node/35367

I'm also disappointed to see so many people here jump to conclusions about him taking his own life.  Wait til the professionals do their investigations and find the truth.

Everything about this story from the start has been wrong, numerous things have been taken back by the big news companies who were resorting to tabloid sources for news on the story.  For instance contrary to early reports, there were not pills strewn around his body. But there were pill bottles, including prescription sleeping medications in the room.  His family also stated he had been suffering from pneumonia.

The autopsy was found to be inconclusive, so the world will have to wait for an examiner to find the true cause.

I've seen the Dark Knight trailers
and Ledger look like he's going to be a very good Joker.  Others involved in the flick have said the same thing.  Prayers out to the family....

Sad news
Heath Ledger was a pretty good actor, but it's always sad to see someone die at a young age.

True...
... at the same time, I don't want a flood of diaries on entertainment news, deaths of famous people (unless they're baseball people), etc.

I trust you can see the difference.
