Jay Blunk leaves Cubs
Seems like McDonough is taking one of his employees with him to the Blackhawks. Check out the story here:

I wonder where this will leave the Cubs marketing.
Full story below.
The Chicago Blackhawks today announced that Jay Blunk, a 22-year sports marketing veteran, will join the team to direct the team's business operations. Mr. Blunk will be the team's senior vice president of business operations, a newly created position.

I'm guessing...
That makes 2008 sort of an interregnum with the Cubs' marketing folks -- they don't really have to worry much about ticket sales, as the demand will likely be up after the playoff season in 2007. But someone will have to sell all the corporate sponsorships, unless that's already been done.
Whoever buys the team will obviously bring in their own marketing people. What they should tell them is, "Don't screw it up", because regardless of the results on the field, the Cubs' marketing department has been the best in the business for many years.

Im happy for the Hawks...
On the Cubs side, if this was gonna happen, it couldnt have been a better time... Now with Fukudome, what we lose from Blunk, we will just get back from any japanese marketing from Kosuke... Thats how i look at it anyway. No big setback from last year.
Like they always say, sometimes you win some, sometimes you lose some...

With
WE already saw the result of her leaving. It was definitely trimmed of celebrities who wouldn't know Derrek Lee from Derek Jeter last year. Every one we saw that wasn't connected to the Cubs or Chicago was someone she wanted to meet.

Or at least limiting it to people actually connected to Chicago or the Cubs.
At least somewhere in the middle.

7th inning stretch
Former Cubs
Celebrities that are known to be Cub fans.
Former and current Bears, Blackhawks, Bulls.
Ron Santo
I don't mind the state champion teams being honored either at all. Those kids really accomplished something.
I'm just sick of every Tom Dick and Harry who needs to prostitute him or herself for a movie who wouldn't know Derrek Lee from Derrek Jeter.
