Dragons Fukudome Jerseys Now Available at Yakyushop

Not sure if this is really worth an entire diary, but Yakyushop has received another shipment of Chunichi Dragons jerseys. In selected sizes, of course.

To order a personalized jersey will run you $99.95 plus approximately $9.00 shipping.

From the site: Note: This jersey is difficult to obtain, and there has been strong demand since Kosuke Fukudome signed with the Cubs. As a result, particular sizes may be unavailable from time to time.

Those are actually CHunichi Dragons Jerseys
Are they not?

If you want to put a #1 and Fukudome on the back won't it cost you an extra $40?

Thanks for the Heads Up
In for one.

This model does not appear to have the "Chunichi" patch on the left arm that is visible in most of the pictures of Fukudome I've seen.  I assume that the patch can be construed to be an ad, so I can live without it.

Or, maybe not.
The link says it's a "replica" jersey, not an "official game jersey". The latter probably has the patch.

But
Given the prices on the Chunichi website, we can only imagine what the cost would be for an authentic jersey.

There is a Fukudome jersey up on Ebay right now with the "Chunichi" patch that I had been watching, but my guess is that it will be bid up over $99.

This stuff is hard to find and the patch isn't a huge deal to me in this case, so I was willing to settle.

Re: replica jersey
Looks like Nagoya wholesellers could find some channels in US for their stock...

Right, the one sold at Yakyu shop is the cheaper alternative of official game jersey, which is very same material and expensive ($200+).
The patch on left arm (home:"Chunichi", visitor:"Dragons") will be replaced with "Chunichi Shinbun" ad in the game - the parent company of Dragons and Nagoya local newspaper...
You can see good comparison here.

BTW, this pirates is too funny to me...

You can see some history of Dragons uniform here, and we quit using Dodgers' imitation when manager Hiromitsu Ochiai was assigned in 2004. Dodgers was a ballclub with friendship in the past....
The new and current design was unveiled on the first day of spring training in 2004, in my hometown Chatan, Okinawa.

Thanks for the history and the pics.
I definitely like the current style better than the Dodgers knockoff.

Most of these are now gone.
Do not bother.

There are other places online that have them.

Wait 'til next year. And the next. And the Next. And the next after that too.

Yeah,
how 'bout helping out a fellow Cub fan?  I've been looking for Japaniese League stuff (not just Chunichi) stuff for years, and Yaku Shop is the only place that I've found stuff on a regular basis.  If you, or anyone else knows of a source (besides eBay), please share!

Also, as an aside, be sure if you are planning on buying anything Japaniese League to check sizes carefully!  They tend to run small, so just know what you're getting yourself into before ordering (or be sure you know the return policy)...

There's a voice in the back of my head...
...that said that NPB is really missing out on an opportunity here. As more and more high-profile stars leave NPB for MLB, it raises the profile of NPB over here in America. Why not try marketing it? See if MLB's channel wants to cover some of your games, sell some merchandising, make some money.
I would suggest you learn to truly interrupt all stats before using any selective stats. -- cubswin

Oh, come on now.
That makes too much sense.

Re: NPB
Well, NBP doesn't have any marketing skills at all, that functionality is left to each team. The NPB commissioner don't have any political power at all, it's left to owner's committee. This is our historical and structural issue over decades.

I'll wait and get a Cubs jersey
I'll fit in better in the bleachers that way.
