LIL Wayne to write song about the Cubs
from ESPN the mag..
"I like the Rays but I'm gonna take a shot in the dark here and say the Cubs. This could really be the year after all they been through. I'd pick a song for them, or write one, about triumph. But it's gotta be big for this. It's gotta be a good song."
I personally love Lil Wayne and would think this would be culmination of an amazing season if we have both Eddie and Weezy making songs about us in one year....
Lets take care of business.

Theriot loves Lil Wayne too.....
My next sig line quote will also be from Lou Piniella, and the first word will be either "Look", or "Listen", followed by a comma.

If he does write a "song"...............

yes
but dont worry if he does, you wont be able to understand a word he says anyway.
from the mouth of Uecker:
"Am I the only one who’s glad it’s only a 4-game series? If was a 9-game series, I think the Cubs would win them all."

Interview
It’s actually a pretty funny interview. Worth a read if you’re stuck at work, I says.

I love Lil Wayne, my favorite rapper
but he’s real hit or miss, even from line to line, especially song to song, so I’m not getting over excited about this.

I don't like...
New aged Cubs songs, except for the Eddie Vedder song, it’s got an old-school feel to it.
That B96 “Go Cubs Go Remix” is a corny disaster.
"Remember each day this year, where you were, what you were doing, who you were with, how you felt as the Cubs win their way through it. Because if this does turn out to be the promised land we have all been waiting for, you will want to remember, savor, cherish every moment..."

Just another one on the list...
Everyone’s looking for that theme song for the post season. Red Sox had “Tessie” a couple years ago and the White Sox had “Don’t Stop Believing.” To each his own, but I’ll be interested to see who takes this one on complete opposite ends of the spectrum. I think “Go Cubs Go” will trump Lil Wayne and Vedder though. This season is the most I’ve seen them recognize it on nationally televised games.

Weezy is awesome
I think this is a great idea. A Steve Goodman Remix?

I'd rather have Chicago's Lupe Fiasco or Kanye West write a song abotu the Cubbies...
I met Kanye a few years ago and asked him “White Sox or Cubs?” and even though he’s a south sider he said “Cubs!”
Not the biggest Lil Wayne fan. But I’m pretty content with the Eddie Vedder song:)
