Stark Picks Cubs!!!
I know not a lot of stock gets put into ESPN guys and there predictions, but I happen to be a Jayson Stark fan (one of the only guys there I could truly say that about) and he put up a fairly good article about his reasoning behind picking our Cubbies to take home the hardware at the end. All I can say is I feel the same way and I'm all in for the fun ride that its going to be. Go Cubs Go...

Didn't the Cubs get picked by various pundits last year too?
My next sig line quote will also be from Lou Piniella, and the first word will be either "Look", or "Listen", followed by a comma.

I liked the article too
and I too hope he is right. There are fewer ‘ifs’ for us than for the other teams

Didn't the Cubs go 3-4 against the Phillies?
Stark said 2-4

Yes, it was 3-4. 2-2 at home, 1-2 on the road.

If Stark can't
get the facts right that have already happened, how can he get the future right?

Thought there might be a LA/Torre bias...
but 9 of 10 ESPN writers picked the Cubs in the NLDS. Neyer was the only one who picked a sweep.

Well if Jayson Stark picked us then why even bother to play, just hand us the trophy

Here's an interesting stat Stark had in his column,
“the Cubs outscored the Dodgers over the past two months (275-250) even with Manny Ramirez, and outscored L.A. by 155 runs over the course of the season.”
Hey, it's a new century!

that was very interesting..
nice little tidbit that maybe took a little of the luster out of manny

Correction....
It might take a little luster off the Dodgers.
You can’t take luster off .396/.489/.743. Manny was incredible for the Dodgers. The Cubs have to keep the guys in front of him off-base.

Some, although probably not all of this, may be due to Dodger Stadium...
Wrigley is a much better hitter’s part than Dodger Stadium. I wouldn’t trust raw offensive stats too much when claiming this is a mismatch. …that said, we really are a better team, I think.

Who cares who...
…picks who?
All I want is the Cubs to play well, and everything will be peachy.

i was just one of the better written articles about who and why someone thought the Cubs could win.

I hear ya...
…I just get fatigued with all the expert predictions, especially when they can’t do any better than anybody else.
