Hack Reilly

I almost don't want to post this here.  But I saw it on ESPN last night and decided that someone else needs to feel the embarassment I felt for the man.

Rick Reilly goes through the "curses" of the Cubs and comes up with 10 new lame and pathetic attempts at humor, as to why the Cubs won't win again this year.

I really can't believe that he gets paid what he gets paid for this garbage.

Don't watch, but if you must, here you go...

And sorry Al for 1:50 - 1:55

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of SB Nation or Al Yellon, editor-in-chief (unless it's a FanPost posted by Al). FanPost opinions are valued expressions of opinion by passionate and knowledgeable baseball fans.

Ya I saw this last night and again today and it is pathetic

ESPN is garbage but I’m pretty sure everyone already knows this, too bad there aren’t any other sports channels that are better

"This is why Major League Baseball does not need instant replay, because then every single play will then be reviewed." -- Joe Morgan, 5/18/08, referring to an umpire ruling a Carlos Delgado homerun foul when replays showed it hit the foul pole.

Rick Reilly

Too bad, I was hoping for Bill O’ bashing.

Rick, please stick to your usual schmaltzy, feel-good-story columns

leave the real sports journalism to the professionals.

I can't bring myself to watch it.

I just can’t. I know I’ll get pissed off enough watching the national coverage for the next (whispers prayer) several weeks.

Don't watch it

I kept telling myself I wasn’t going to and then I was at the gym and it was on and I fell into the trap.

Total garbage and not remotely funny. I don’t even think non-Cubs fans would find it amusing. I have never been a fan of Reilly though so maybe I am bias.

I could only watch the first few seconds of him.

I quit after the blindfold. I used to like Reilly in SI, but this is a real piece of crap. He should be embarrassed.

He should have put the blindfold over his face for the whole

bit so no one would know who did it.

That was a waste of time the video not the post

I wish it were winter so we could freeze it into ice blocks and skate on it and melt it in the spring time and drink it!

Didn't mind the video

Parts of it were entertaining. The Woo-Woo curse was my favorite.

It wasn’t overly entertaining but it’s only 2 minutes long.

How is this journalism?

Seriously? This was a piece of crap on so many levels. Its something I’d expect from a HS media class… and ESPN.

if you're interested

here’s a link to emailing him.

I’m not one for bombarding someone with emails on opinion pieces, etc, but to me, this lacked such professionalism… I was embarrassed.

Another useful link...

Le Anne Schreiber, ESPN’s ombudsman, usually does an outstanding job addressing suck hack-ish “journalism”, and if enough people send her something about this piece our objections may actually get somewhere, as opposed to the pat response everyone’s sure to get out of Reilly himself. Send feedback to her here.

Didn't surprise me..

and I don’t hold Reilly all that accountable. You know ESPN was going to have someone cover the Cubs in this manner…probably drew straws for the assignment.

We’re going to have to get used to this. Part of the reason why winning is so important…no more curse jokes.
