MLB DECLARES CUBS SERIES OVER!!!
This just in from the AP...
CHICAGO, Illinois (AP) -- In a shocking move, Major League Baseball has decided to cancel the rest of the NLDS between the Chicago Cubs and the Los Angeles Dodgers - awarding the series and a trip to the NLCS to the Dodgers. When asked why MLB had decided to do so, Comissioner Bud Selig said, "It's obvious from one game who is going to win the series. What's the point on playing the rest of it? With the economy the way it is, we thought we might save some money on flights if we just called it now."
Cubs manager, Lou Piniella agreed with Selig's decision. " Well you know, we just decided to pack it up and call it a year. We lost the first game and when that happens, it's all over. To be honest, I don't really know why it's supposed to be a five game series. Everybody knows the season is over when you lose number one. But it's okay, me and Matty Sinatro got a great tee time tomorrow morning at the Waveland golf course."
Carlos Zambrano, who was scheduled to pitch in game #2, said, "The fans are right. The season is over. We lost game one. Never has a team come back from losing the first game of a series, so we're done. Now I can go back to emailing my friends."
Selig added, "come to think of it, we should probably just call the Red Sox series too. The Angels losing game one at home? Their season is obviously over."
C'mon, people - it's one game. Lighten up...everything will be okay.

I'll laugh if...
you promise that if the worst happens tomorrow you won’t be posting about how “It’s only 2 games!!”
Actually I voted right before his HR
(not for him, for Jedmonds), and at that point Dempster was the collective pick to click by a healthy margin. Seems there were plenty of votes after DeRo’s HR and Demp’s meltdown.
My next sig line quote will also be from Lou Piniella, and the first word will be either "Look", or "Listen", followed by a comma.
YES!! Another post about the game
What is that, Kansas25? 483?

TWO HUGE GAMES
If we win OSU and PSU, we are back in the top 5 and on the hunt for the Rose Bowl. Keep your chin up.

I didn't get to see the game.
I was stuck at work, following the game on the computer.
I am bitterly disappointed. But it’s not over, and anyone who says it is is just foolish. Yeah, we wanted to start off right, and we didn’t. But that’s why we play best of five, not best of one.
Let’s get that mojo working tomorrow, folks. And let’s not tear into each other. We’re all in this together.
Go Cubs!
IF IT TAKES FOREVER!!

"no team has ever won after game one"
Well, since 1995 in the NLDS, the team that wins game one is 23-3. Pretty daunting.
MAY I NOTE
THAT THE BEST TEAM IN BASEBALL IS ABOUT TO LOSE GAME 1, TOO
Just sayin’…it ain’t over til it’s over.

Man, Dan, this is one night I can completely agree with all of you I normally butt heads with.
This guys coming on here to act like the season’s over are freaking idiots, and nothing but bandwagon jumpers. The rest of us that have been here all along know that nothings over, and we’ll stick it out. Go Cubs, and Go Big Z tomorrow. Maybe Al should lock registration until the postseason is over.
I heart you too, sack!

They aren't idiots....
they are just disappointed that the Cubs lost the first game (again). I think a lot of those people are just plain tired of being let down again by the team they love so much.
Hopefully, those of us who “stick it out” with the team (even if they lose this series) will not come on here and gripe and complain about how “if only Fonzie had just gotten a few key hits or if Zambrano had not had another melt-down inning or if the bullpen had come thru like they were supposed to…we would have won the series!”
It’s too late to 2nd guess then.
If you think you've seen it all...just wait!

This was very funny--and much needed--Thanks!
I am disappointed in the lousy showing by the Cubs tonight, but all they can do is try and win tomorrow. A loss like tonight’s warrants a lot of venting because the Cubs seemed to continue their play from the Arizona series last year, but after the venting all you can do is root for the team to win tomorrow.
The only thing the team can do is try and win tomorrow’s game.
The series should be seven games
I would be but the owners are greedy and won’t shorten the season.
If the Cubs had won tonight
but lost tomorrow … how would people feel?
My guess is a lot of them would be ledge-jumping in that circumstance, too.
This team has shown it’s too good to go down too early. Keep the faith.
