Go BoSox....

I am hoping for an NLCS sweep, an ALCS sweep, and a WS sweep, so that the postseason can end.

I am not ready for football - I just don't like it as much anymore...

…although I am a huge college BB fan, so that will be nice.

Go Red Sox

The Rays would be more indignity.

Wow.

This place is hoppin.

In the last week and a half, Dan has experienced:

3 Cubs losses – sweep
3 Badger losses – Michigan, OSU, PSU
1 KU win – Colorado

Pretty safe to say this has been the worst week and a half of my sports teams’ career. Oh, and Minnesota is atop the Big 10, the Brewers won a f-ing playoff game, and Mizzou is gonna be the new #1/#2.

No team

that plays in a stadium as godawful as The Trop deserves to be the champion of anything. No more Florida expansion championships! Quite frankly, they make me ill. Give me a Phillies-Red Sox WS and I might watch, as I have neither a rooting interest nor hate for either team, so it will be nice, stress-free baseball (if you don’t count listening to Tim McCarver).

It's not the players' fault

that their fans suck balls.

I don't dislike the players, some of them I'd feel very lucky to have.

I just feel like rooting for them is somehow tacit approval of the ill-conceived expansion which led to their team’s very existence.

don't fall victim to the "poodle syndrome"...

every time I see a poodle with a ridiculous fur cut, my first instinct is always to laugh, snicker, roll my eyes and otherwise make fun of the dog, Then I catch myself and realize, it’s not the dog’s fault.

So don’t hate the team just because they play in a sorry excuse for a sports venue – hate the owner.

Hate Jerry Reinsdorf

The Trop was built for the White Sox.

Nothin'. A handful of nothin'. You stupid mullet head. He beat you with nothin'. Just like today when he kept comin' back at me......with nothin'.

Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.

Excellent point!

I already hate him for tearing down Comiskey and building the Cell, so adding the Trop to the list is icing on the cake.

i've been to the trop

and its really not that bad! when its full, its loud and crazy! I like going to games there. Sure I’d rather go to a stadium that’s not a dome, but you have no idea how hot our summers are here in central fla. Compared to wrigley, the trop sucks, but compared to turner field and dolphin stadium (that list comprises the four mlb ballparks i’ve been to) the trop is pretty cool. The comic book motif in the concourse is cool too. Don’t knock it till you’ve been there, please!

Completely random

but I need to say this: The poll is depressing. 45% say “never”. WTF is up with that?

"Next year" sucks.

For those of you boycotting baseball because of the Cubs loss...

…. you missed quite a game last night.

Attended the game

One of the best games I have witnessed. Since the Cubs fell from the sky I have directed my attention to the Ray’s. Being a season ticket holder has helped.

The Trop is a unique place let me tell you. It has been wild this year. Very exciting games. A better product on the field beings people to the games. 10 years is no history and comparing a Cubs or Red Sox fan to a Rays fan is Apples and Oranges.

Both ALCS games have been very good. I am surprised how the young Rays team has handled the pressure and after looking at the Cubs completely fold it has been, well incredible to me. But my thinking on the matter is the Rays are playing with house money. We’re talking a 96 loss team, winning 97 games the year after and making it to the ALCS with home field advantage throughout the rest of the playoff depending how far they go.

If you like baseball at all. Take a look at the Rays. They are playing some fun baseball that is really worth watching.

The Cubs will be great in 2008!

Buster Olney said a few days ago that the Braves would entertain offers for their 26 year old shortstop (who makes 450k) Yunel Escobar. He is a plus bat, a solid defender, and would move Theriot to his more appropriate position at second.

They are looking for a bat in return. Apparently Cox doesn't like the guy.

I couldn't even speculate what we'd have to send them in return, but I think he would be a good fit given his low salary, his productive bat, his position, and his age. I don't care if he's a jerk if he makes the team win more.

What would it take?
