2003 Florida Marlins roster

Thanks to a fanpost yesterday, I decided to torture myself and watch the ESPN Classic replay of the 2003 NLCS game 6 against the Marlins. OYE! While watching, though, I began to notice something that I had not before realized - 4 of those Marlins went on to play for the Cubs soon after:

Derrek Lee
Juan Pierre
Todd Hollandsworth
Chad Fox

This got me into research mode, and the Atlanta Braves team that beat us in the 1998 NLDS had 3 future Cubs:

Randall Simon
Mark DeRosa
Greg Maddux

The reason I'm bringing this up is I've read a lot of fanposts recently about trying to acquire Manny, trying to acquire Furcal, etc...  I think that just because a team is better for 3 days doesn't mean that they have the missing piece to the puzzle for a 2009 championship. As a whole, I still very much like our team, and as I've made it known I feel we should do everything we can to resign Demp and Woody. Anything beyond that would be an added bonus, but with this same group of core players you'd have to feel good about a magical 2009.

As always, comments welcome!
