NLCS ticket winners should be notified today.

For the rest of you that are already tired of fretting about tonight's game, I thought it might be a welcome distraction to get a thread going about the progress of the cruel, heartless NLCS ticket lottery. Hopefully, the emails go out earlier than 8:50PM this time.

Especially since many of those expecting the emails will be at the game tonight.

Still, no one has to hang on the exact moment the email arrives, since the sale doesn’t start till noon tomorrow.

There's no need to hang on

but it does offer me something else to obsess over instead of trying to figure out what is going to happen tonight. Ten more hours of that alone just isn’t good for me.

by melombar on Oct 2, 2008 10:36 AM CDT up reply actions

Amen to that

I will soon be distracted by other games today (with the sound off, of course), though, so that is good too.

by SuperContext on Oct 2, 2008 10:40 AM CDT up reply actions

not to be a downer

but do you get refunded if you purchase tickets for games that aren’t played?

I just want to know what i’m getting into before i’m hopefully declared a winner again!

by DartmouthCubsFan on Oct 2, 2008 10:35 AM CDT reply actions

so...

if i printed at home do I lose nothing cause technically there are no shipping fees or do Iose the 2.50 I paid for the convenience of printing at home?

You lose the $2.50.

They will refund your the ticket price but will not refund the processing fees. Sadly, I learned that as a result of last year’s NLCS effort.

On another note, let’s try not to think that way just yet. :)

by melombar on Oct 2, 2008 10:37 AM CDT reply actions

i know i know

i just didn’t know what the policy was

I’m honestly pretty optimistic about things still

by DartmouthCubsFan on Oct 2, 2008 10:40 AM CDT up reply actions

With the print at home option...

can you also get a legit ticket stub? I printout from my computer would not look very good framed in the man cave.

by MikeOxbyg on Oct 2, 2008 11:29 AM CDT reply actions

No, you can't.

Once you print your ticket, that’s your ticket. They won’t reprint it on a “hard” ticket.

Not gonna lie

But in my world of typical luck if I get an email saying I won the opportunity to buy tickets that’s a bad thing for Cubs this series. In a twisted way I hope I don’t win the lottery!

I forgot to sign up in time for the NLDS

what does the email title look like? I’m afraid I’ll miss it sorting through my junk mails

Should be something like "Cubs Postseason Ticket Opportunity"

Dear God...

I think I might have deleted it. Is there anyway I can get ahold of MLB or the Cubs to tell them, or did i just make a terrible mistake?

by GoCubsGo11 on Oct 2, 2008 2:11 PM CDT reply actions

If you got an email today, you're fine.

If like last time, they’ll email you the actual code tomorrow to purchase tickets at noon.

But I wouldn’t worry as they didn’t email the Cubs decisions out yet.

Got a chance for the Brewers..

“Your chance to purchase Brewers Postseason tickets begins Mon. at 10 a.m CT”

No rejection letters yet either

I did get rejects from the Brewers at 14:50 CDT and from the White Sox at 15:07, but nothing from the Cubs yet.

True

But the bad news is that the rejects were sent about an hour later than the winners for the NLDS. :(

had maybe 25 people signed up for me (and friends)

…and 1 acceptance in the two rounds… insane odds.

We’re sorry, but you were not selected for an opportunity to purchase
tickets to 2008 National League Championship Series tickets for games at

Wrigley Field.

Tickets will be available through Stubhub.

by melombar on Oct 2, 2008 4:19 PM CDT reply actions

Rough, I know.

But lets not put the cart before the horse. They gotta get there first. And I’d bet that NLCS tickets will be available from Cubs.com at some point given the surplus of tickets available for the NLDS.

Relax

Keep an eye on Cubs.com after tomorrow!

Those “surplus tickets” went very quickly after people found out about them.

OT: Baseball alive at old Tiger Stadium site
I have to admit, i didn't expect this to work, and i generally don't condone ratting somebody out, but i think Woo Woo inspires special circumstances.

He was a few rows above me and a group of maybe a hundred other University of Iowa alumni last night, and started right in with the wooing early and loud. Between innings, he was... how shall i say this... creeping around? We all know his reputation.

Within 10 minutes of making a complaint to the Cubs text line, he was gone. Might be worth trying in future instances.

Sorry for the crappy picture quality... just got a new phone (HTC EVO) and am not sure how to take screen caps yet.
