I'm buying a ring!
My girlfriend and I met right after the crapfest called the 2006 baseball season. She moved to Champaign to get a job, and we met at our place of work. A few days later, the Cubs hired Lou Pinella. We started dating soon after that, and I talked a little about the deals the Cubs were making and my optimism.
We became exclusive the day after the Big Z/Barrett fight.
We moved in with each other the day the Cubs overtook the Brewers for first place (still in 07 folks).
I told her that night I was going to propose if the Cubs won the World Series. I'm not gonna lie, I was kind of thankful I didn't have to buy a ring.
Well, the Cubs were dominant this year, and our relationship has come a long way as well. I'm finally ready to take that final plunge.
I've always considered her my good luck charm, and I hope this purchase is a good omen for me and the Cubs.
P.S. I'm waiting to propose until after we win the WS, but if we lose, I'm still doing it...though I might wait a few weeks until I'm in a better mood.

That's happy news!
And if you can talk about baseball together, that will serve you in good stead for many years.
Here’s to ya both!
And, wow, that Z-Barrett fight really was a world-changing event, wasn’t it?

Maybe you better do it now.
For two reasons: One, what if she reads this?
Two, good things seem to happen after positive events in your relationship. If you propose TODAY, the Cubs will win tonight!

LOL!
I’m nervous enough about the game let alone adding an engagement to it.

Congratulations!!!
You should ask her now so it’s your primary reason to celebrate. If you ask her if/when the Cubs win a WS there will be too many distractions. This is from a womans point of view though.

Congrats...
When I got engaged a few years ago, a friend of mine sent an e-mail to the Cubs. They sent a nice letter wishing us luck, hoping we’d come back to Wrigley soon, etc.
Probably just a form letter that some office temp rubber-stamped, but I thought it was pretty cool.

As someone who has been married
For 33 days, let me say…
RUN LIKE THE WIND!!!!
Kidding, but also, you might want to know that it irritates them when you use their bathroom towels.

Also, put the toilet seat down
I don’t fully understand why this is such a big deal but it is, so just get in the habit. I’ve been doing it so long I even catch myself starting to in men’s rooms.
Anyway, a small price to pay.

But don't pee on the floor, either
That annoys them too.

If she says no
She can move back to Milwaukee (she was never a Brewers fan)

marriage is worse than a cubs losing season!!! alot worse. nah just kidding but make sure you pay attention to her,the house, kids etc or she might start saying things like you watch more tv or care more about stupid baseball than me. good luck!!
from the mouth of Uecker:
"Am I the only one who’s glad it’s only a 4-game series? If was a 9-game series, I think the Cubs would win them all."
