Oh, brother...

… as Jack Brickhouse might have said.

Not only do they mention He Who Shall Not Be Named — but then all the other peripheral stuff that I’ve been saying we have to shed, in order to build a winner the right way. It’s lazy crap, the same old stuff we’ve seen in the mass media.

I like Tank McNamara and have for many years. But Jeff Millar and Bill Hinds (both sportswriters, incidentally), who write this strip, struck out badly with this one. It’s lame and stupid, not funny. They often do week long series. I hope this isn’t one of those.

Also note that they misspelled Harry Caray's name.

I agree – this is lame and lazy and does a huge disservice to the many knowledge baseball fans who continue to support the Chicago Cubs.

I interpreted it a little differently...

Like it was a sick cubs fan who still hasn’t recovered from the playoff series. Kind of like in fever pitch where ben locked himself in his room watching the buckner game.

I applaud the effort to integrate popular news

But the execution was poor. I gotta agree with Al, this one was a loser.

I saw it in today's Stars and Stripes

And got a cheap laugh out of it.

lame and stupid ..

You know, I don’t have a problem – much as I don’t like it – with anyone razzing the Cubs over this century long black hole of fail. Just let it be to the point, direct and relevant .. and don’t diss Cub fans personally for their allegience. This cartoon was so ill conceived and hamhanded I just couldn’t see any humor in it at all. It’s like they reached into a old kit bag of cliches and glued them all over their drawing board.

That’s too bad. I used to really, really like Tank McNamara .. thought the strips involving the crazy inventor who mutated sports figures and trends were HEElarious .. but the suck factor has kicked in.

Well, Next Year is here .. and Jack's century's gotta end some time .. GO CUBBIES!

Yeah, I agree.

Tank McNamara has been one of my favorite strips ever since it started. But this series is a clunker.

As I suggested below, you can go to the strip’s website, sign up for an account, log in and comment. Bill Hinds appears to read the comments.

Have at it.

Fears were realized...

… it is a week long series.

I looked at the Tank McNamara website.

You can log in and comment. I’d suggest doing that. It appears that Bill Hinds reads the comments. Let ’em know how dumb and lame this crap is.

Get over it.

We are not sacred. The Cubs are, to the outside viewer, laughable.

100 years and counting IS pathetic. Sorry to break it to you people.

The worst beer I had was pretty good.

No one said we were sacred.

And if Millar and Hinds want to poke fun at the Cubs organization from 100 years and counting of failure, fine. Whatever. But they’re taking cheap shots at Cubs fans, lumping us all together as a bunch of sheep so blinded by the many accoutrements of “Cubbie” culture that we can’t see the reality of the situation. And that’s BS: Just because we haven’t given up and bought Tampa Bay Rays caps doesn’t make us pathetic.
