1926 mvp outrage

more important than the world series, i post this ridiculousness.  the travesty known as the 1926 NL mvp vote:

                                   Max | Season Results
Rk Name Team Points Points Share| AB H HR BA OPS
+--+----------------+----+------+------+-----+-----+---+--+-----+-----
  1 Bob O'Farrell STL 79 80 0.99 | 492 144 7 .293 .804
  2 Hughie Critz CIN 60 80 0.75 | 607 164 3 .270 .687
  3 Ray Kremer PIT 32 80 0.40 | (removed pitcher stats)
  4 Tommy Thevenow STL 30 80 0.38 | 563 144 2 .256 .602
  5 Hack Wilson CHC 25 80 0.31 | 529 170 21 .321 .945

1) how does hack wilson finish FIFTH?!?!
2) o'farrell gets 0.99 share of votes? really?

ok, so here's more comparison:
Tm G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS
Bob O'Farrell STL 147 492 63 144 30 9 7 68 61 44 0.293 0.371 0.433 0.804
Hack Wilson CHC 142 529 97 170 36 8 21 109 69 61 0.321 0.406 0.539 0.945
Tm *OPS+ TB HBP RC RC/G OWP *BtRns BtWin
Bob O'Farrell STL 112 213 0 79 5.8 0.613 9.4 0.9
Hack Wilson CHC 151 285 6 114 8.2 0.75 39.8 3.9

this makes no sense to me. this is ridiculous. i googled o'farrell and all i could come up with is that he was a catcher that helped lead the cards to their first ever world series and he ended the world series in 1926 by throwing out babe ruth who was trying to steal second base.

seriously, that's it? how did this guy finish first? hack must have pissed off every writer back then in a belichick-ian way.
