I am looking forward to game 3
It won't be about winning or losing for me. Baseball is a strange game; you can play a fine game and still lose. What I want to see is how the players carry themselves. Are they proud, defiant, and competitive, or beaten? This game will tell us a lot about the true character of this team. They are talented players and a good team. The 97 wins were not a fluke. I hope they do not let themselves, much less their fans, down. I hope they give their all and play the kind of inspired, well executed ball they are capable of. Either way, win or lose, I can take the off season and look forward to whatever comes, if I see a proud team give their all tomorrow, and for as many games as they have left this season.

Fight hard for a change!
This team has no pride. They have no soul!

I agree...
…that tomorrow will show a lot about the team, but I can’t agree that I will be fine if they play a good game and get beat.
If that happens, you have to ask the obvious question; why didn’t they show up in game one and two, when they could have taken control of the series?
There is a lot of money tied up on that field, and making a game of it just isn’t good enouph. It’s time for those dollars to pay off with a three game winning streak, and if they can’t, some changes would need to be made to strengthen the teams backbone.

Coming back and taking the series is not out of the question.
We get a good game out of Harden and Lilly, and the hitters hit we have a tied series. Game 5 anything can happen.

Still some hope.
Althought I am extremely disappointed by the way things have gone, I still have a fair amount of optimism left. We have Harden on the mound tommorrow and I truly think he we will come trough for us. If there’s a game 5 however, I would much rather have Carlos Zambrano on the mound than Dempster. Don’t get me wrong because I have a ton of respect for Demps and think he’s had an amazing year that exceeded everyone’s expectation. But I am more confident with Big Z on the mound.

I am not here to rally the troops.
Nor am I here to give some sort of inspirational speech. I’ve said my thing about this Cubs team to the people around me, and it should be shared with this community.
The Cubs are probably screwed. Three straight games is one heck of a run, in the playoffs against a division winner, and the Cubs are probably toast.
So what?
If they’re the Cubs, this kind of thing doesnt come easy. Either they’ll make a miracle comeback (which has to happen at this point) or they wont. Either way, its in typical Cubs fashion. Either they do the unthinkable (‘98, ’03) or they choke (’69, ’07, ’84).
The way I see it, I’ve never expected the Cubs to take the easy route.
Tomorrow night the Cubs can choose their own destiny. Either they’ll do the unthinkable, or they’ll go softly into the night. If they CAN manage to win, this team is good enough that it’ll jump start the offense and give them a fighters chance. If they struggle, it’ll be just another Cubs failure. Either way, should we be surprised?
I, for one, have embraced that either way, its the Cubbie way, and I’m not the least bit surprised.

Have Dempster or Ted Lilly relieve Harden if need be
I don’t trust our bullpen for the most part. I say the hell with it. Use Marquis, Dempster, Lilly and anybody but Howry to relieve tommorow before the 8th inning. Use them for only out even. Screw it!

Dempster will be available...
… Lou has already announced that. If Dempster has to pitch tonight, there probably wouldn’t be a game 5 anyway, and if there is — Zambrano could go then.

I've been watching everyone's reactions
to this series, and I feel like I have a foot in both camps: the optimists and the realists.
The realist in me suggests the smart money is on the Dodgers, based on what we’ve seen from both teams so far. The Dodgers are the picture of loose, free confidence, and the Cubs appear tight and unsure of themselves, even desperate. But my optimism tells me that a team which lets its guard down even for a moment can be knocked down by an opponent who is prepared to take advantage.
The key to that is the Dodgers. If they attack aggressively and swing freely, trying to end the series quickly, they play into the hands of a strikeout artist such as Harden, whose stuff can be truly untouchable. The Cubs have a poor showing against Kuroda this year in two games, but that is two games worth of experience the Dodgers don’t have against Harden. Just maybe the Cubs are due to hit Kuroda.
Just get them on their heels and it could change the whole tenor of things quickly.

I agree
I too have a foot in both camps at this point. One part of me says “Hell, this isn’t over.” That could be the investment that I have made in this season. Not wanting to believe that tomorrow would be it. Another part of me says this is the Dodgers to win or lose and the Cubs will have little more to say about the outcome.
We need to come out tomorrow and put up a crooked number real quick and Harden needs to get in the groove real quick or else it will be a quick night. I think a change of scene cant hurt them at this point as well. Either way, I look forward to it! It’s either over or it is not.
GO CUBS!

Run on Martin tommorow
I want Soriano or Theriot to run tommorow if they get on. You can run on these guys. I also demand the hitters step out of the box and disrupt Kuroda. Make him think!

Knock Manny down!
I want Harden to knock Manny down in the First inning. Send a message we are here to play!

If you want to feel better
just keep saying “Harden vs. Kuroda. Harden vs. Kuroda.”

Excuse me for being the realist...
…but its a game. Its played by boys for fun, and men for sport. Its a collection of nine guys that take the field and for moments make us forget the world. The world is a line drive. The world is a sinking fastball in a hitters count. The world is a line drive double play or a slick fielded 6-4-3 double play that changes an inning.
This is a world we get lost in. We are consumed by the sport, the game, the team, etc. In no other sport is a team’s fan base so obsessed. In no other sport are people drawn in, day in and out, for six months.
And still here we are. Fixed on a single game, to be played by men. Stepping back, its silly. But still, emotions run high with each pitch and a single hit or run could determine many moods for the next few weeks, months, and years. Silly, given that it is all over a game.
I will be one of you, one of the many of you that has their mood dictated by the game. But how silly is it that its just a game that we worry so much about?

I think...
None of the Cubs know where the bathroom is…because they’ve all crapped their pants
I don’t have much faith, but all we want is to see this team win. Is that too much to ask?

Thoughts
I suspect there would be plenty of disappointment, enough to go around, if the Cubs had lost their first two playoff games and had done so with the professionalism we expect. After seeing what we have, I think some of us feel we are entitled to real effort. We also know the odds favor better results with that effort.
When performance doesn’t require the facts be known and absorbed, it is better to go out and just play to win without thinking about postseason and the elimination aspects of it. I think Lou has been trying to get that across.
