On the Angels/BoSox
So I'm sitting here watching the Angels / Red Sox game and I'm noticing something... this actually feels like a baseball game. That is, the Angels may be down 5-3 right now, but it feels like they actually have a chance of coming back. Their pitchers aren't always dominating and their hitters aren't always executing (of particular note I think is the stat that in his last 52 post-season ABs, Vlad has 1 RBI and 0 extra base hits... sound familiar?), but they still seem to have the ability to come back.
The last two Cubs games have not felt like that.
Why is it that this team seems to just play like the game ends as soon as they get down by a bit? They weren't like this in the regular season... what is it that guys on the Red Sox or the Angels have that our players don't?
I just don't get it...

Jason Bay
Every time i see him play i think how great he would look in the cubs outfield. Another homerun tonight!

Six more of years of Soriano
I am not sure if i will be able to handle watching Alfie for another six years. I am sure we could have made a trade with Pittsburgh for Bay. He has always hit well at wrigley field. Too late now, just thinking out loud.

I remember a funny conversation I had with a Brewer fan last year
his argument was
Rickie Weeks > Brandon Phillips
Corey Hart > Jason Bay
Jason had a horrible year last year but it looks like that is proving to be a fluke.

Angels just battled back...
…to tie it in the 8th.
The Angels 3-4-5 hitters are a combined 8 for 10 tonight. Thats what you call your money players doing some damage when you need it.

I knew..
K-Rod would blow it. He’s like Trevor Hoffman and the 2008 Cubs — Can’t handle pressure! I love it, at least I won’t be the only one hurting in So Cal - Angels are in the same spot as Cubs- actually, WORSE!! They won 100 games

Right now
IMHO, any baseball game, hell even a high school game that is close is appealing

poor Angels
can’t beat these Red Sox….
Boston is a good team though, seems that they were built for the playoffs

ur right..
their closer gave it away. K-Rod always folds like a cheap suit when he’s in a big game.
I envy Dodger fans tonight! They got a 2-0 lead as underdogs and their counterparts down I-5 are folding

not a big fan of K-Rod
feel sorry for the team that is going to overpay for him in the offseason.

He's great..
during regular season games but seriously, he’s a lot like Trevor Hoffman! Remember Trevor blowing the All Star Game a few years back, that game vs. Milwaukee last year when he gave up the double to Tony Gwynn Jr.
Makes me wonder, how valuable is a great player like a closer if they always blow it when it counts most??

that game last year was awful
they were right in the stink of it and your legendary closer gives up a double to a AAA player.
Not to mention the tiebreaker game last year against the Rockies when he gave up 3 ER in extra innings. The Padres had Jake Peavy going against Josh Fogg…you would like to think that one was going to be in the bag.
Makes we wonder how Wood performs in a big game situation as a closer. Maybe we’ll find out tomorrow night

Some guys just can't handle that kinda pressure
I used to worry about Z always folding under pressure but he handled his no-no well and HE HAD IT GOING last night but our infielders had other plans

that second inning was unbearable
still watched the game until the bitter end. Figured I wouldn’t be able to sleep anyways.
I had confidence in Z going in, thinking back to last year he pitched well in game one against Arizona. It’s a shame we are wasting these starts

I wonder if...
… those who blame the game 1 loss on Piniella want to pile on Terry Francona for not pulling Matsuzaka in the 4th and 5th innings. He was in trouble all game and really looked like he was going to turn a 2 run lead into a deficit. But he pulled it out. Unfortunately Dempster was unable to get out of his jam, but the fact is that managers are going to stick with their top starters.

the red sox have ditched the curse and learned how to win. the cubs still cannot handle any kind of pressure.they dont know how to win.plain and simple.watch them in the dugout in the 3rd game.
