I have just returned from the future...
FEAR NOT – the Cubs will be scoring some runs shortly!

NO!
you don’t understand, by bring back that information from the future, you have altered the timeline into one where the Cubs will never score a run again.
Get to the Delorean, we have to go back to 2003 when the Back to the Future reference that led Bartman to go to the 6th game of the NLCS occurred, and restore the proper timeline!

So DeLee works the count to 2-1
and he’s sitting dead red. So why did he TAKE the fastball right down the middle on 2-1 and then swing at a ball off the plate for strike 3?

I'm getting physically sick.
In one week, two Badger losses, both to teams I completely and wholly hate, and now 12 outs from yet another playoff sweep.

Wouldn't that be something if the Cubs lose on a shutout
But the way Kuroda is pitching. Looks like Derrek Lowe out there with that sinker and slider.

I think Harden's out-pitching him,
but baseball’s a game of luck as much as of skill. Flip three coins, sometimes they’ll all turn up tails.

Harden has battled without his normal velocity
He’s not been himself tonight. Which why does that surprise me given that events of the past several days.

The dude is obviously hurt...
…he hasn’t had his good live fastball for about 5-6 weeks. The guy can be dominating, but it looks like you have another Mark Prior type on your hands that won’t be reliable for any period of time.

This is
the best Cubs team that I have ever seen. I spent every day following this team one way or another, and I am greatful for every thrilling moment they have gave me this summer. 2008 was a magical season that I won’t soon forget. Win or lose, I am going to sit right here and watch the rest of this season. Who’s with me?

I agree this was the best Cubs team in quite a while, if not ever.
Sometimes you drop three games. Shit happens. Bad luck it was when it counted.

Isnt part of being the best
delivering when its need the most, ie the post season?
at this rate, the Cubs will the be the NLDS version of the Buffalo Bills

Depends on your definition, I guess.
I think “best” means “most skilled at baseball and most capable of success” while you might believe “best” to mean “most successful.” Since success in the postseason is largely luck, those aren’t the same.
I would say the 2004 Cards were better than the 2006 Cards, for instance.

That's the season folk....
for the 2nd year in a row the Cubs bow out 1st
The best defense is a good offense.....Lou Pinella...still hasn't managed the Cubs to a post season win. D. Lee still doesn't have a post seasson RBI for Cubs...ditto for Soriano

Go Blackhawks.
I guess after tonight I will be rooting for the Philadelphia Phillies to win the World Series.

It feels so empty
to be with this team since spring training, following their every move, just to lose 3 games to a team that barely won its division.

TIme to make some changes next year
trade Lee while he’s still got some value, and several teams need 1Bmen

Why make any major changes? The 2008 Cubs were/are a great team,
and the postseason is as much about luck as skill.

The Twins would need plenty of cash, too. They aren't the type to spend $13M on one player.
Rather, they’d throw $4 million at four separate terrible veterans.

This was known when we got him. We gambled on this. He was damn good in most games.
But it won’t surprise me if Harden and Z both get surgery this off season.

Harden battled all night long with less than stellar stuff…unlike Dempster…
Teixeira in 2009.

Right-On.
The manager had better had planned to go to his pen in the 4th or 5th with harden starting unless he just came out blowing everyone away and he didn’t.

I think it's ridiculous to try to tease out anyone who "showed up" in this dismal series
But to omit DeRo b/c he made one of several costly errors in a game where the Cubs didn’t score until it was over anyway is kind of odd
