Into the Belly of the Beast

I am getting on a flight to Burbank in an hour and a half to go to the game tonight.  It might have been the martini last night, but I have already forgotten the horror of game 2.  I hope that the boys can do the same.

The main thing that we have going for us right now is the depth of our starting pitching.  This was the same thing that the Red Sox had when they pulled off their improbable series win against that other Joe Torre team.

I expect a hostile, derisive crowd in Dodger Stadium, but I will put on the colors on none the less.  I am going not because I have a great feeling that we are going to pull this off, but because the next game is the whole point.

My favorite quote for times like this:

When you're going through hell, keep going.

- Winston Churchill

Damn the torpedos!

My next sig line quote will also be from Lou Piniella, and the first word will be either "Look", or "Listen", followed by a comma.

This is the kind of fan that makes me proud to be a Cubs fan!

The most important thing to remember is...

Keep cheering. No matter how bad it gets just keep cheering. Show them what a real fan is like!

(You can cry after the game if we lose ;) )

In the words of Robert Frost

“The best way out is always through.”

Go get ’em, Cubs!

I'll be there too

Reserve Section 43 M 13. I can tell you from experience that Dodger Stadium can get nasty but just keep your head up and don’t let them get to you. Hopefully the Cubs will open a big lead and the place empties out.

GO CUBS!

The critical thing to understand is that major-league pitchers don't appear to have the ability to prevent hits on balls in play. There are many possible reasons why this is the case, and I don't really have a concrete idea as to why it is.

But the one thing I do know is that it is the case.

Cool

I’ll look for you. Us Cubs fans need to stick together when in enemy territory! Honestly, it’s always great to have other Cubs fans near you.

Those of you who are going tonight...

… keep the faith and win it for those of us who can’t be there (even though we wanted to be).

In an Internet cafe in Glendale

I am with a fellow Cub fan in 46 FD, row R, seats 19 & 20.

We are both wearing considerable Cub gear, and I have a “W” flag that I hope I will have cause to use. I have been warned that security there confiscates signs, but I would not use it until after the game anyway.

If I get a chance, and have access, I will try to drop by nbt and LACubFan at the game. I am hoping that is made possible by a Cubs lead and the Dodgers fans abandoning the stadium.
