My Take On Things
Its a pleasure finally being able to post..
Well after stalking these blogs for the second half of the season, and waiting for my account to be approved i'm finally able to post my take on things.
It seems as though most of us Cubs fans have completely given up, I even saw a post about completly changing the name, knocking down Wrigley Field, and starting over. That is just completly ridiculous.
I know i'm not the only one that realizes how close we were to actually maybe pulling off the last two games. (I know the scores were a blow out) But if you think about it, baseball is a game of momentum, Dempster was one strike away from ending the 5th inning. Let's say Dempster gets out of it, the momentum would still be on The Cubs side, and the bats probably would've been alot louder. But as we know Dempster did it to himself, and the rest is history. On Thursday in the second that double play would have ended the inning, and it would've been 0-0, totally different ball game, but once again the Cubs did it to themselves and the rest is history.
What I'm trying to get at is do you really expect this team to go out and walk 7 batters again, or commit 4 errors (or err-ahs as stockton would say) this team is better than that and lets keep faith they could pull a miracle off. I hope i'm not the only one watching tonite, not only hoping for a miracle but just so I could see my boys play at least one more time before 2009.

This team has made liars
of many on here this season. Let’s hope they do the same starting tonight.
Let's take three...starting today!!
I will say this again
I don’t give up on this team until they are actually eliminated.
And if they do come back from the 2-0 deficit 90% of everyone on here will pretend they acted liked depressed children and jump back on the Cubs are going all the way bandwagon.
Pink Hat Guy...
… is named Jim Anixter. He’s a longtime season ticket holder and his family owns a company in the Chicago suburbs that makes electronic products. At one time they were considering bidding on the team.
Hope that helps.

thanks
my mom will be able to sleep at night.. and maybe i wont have to here her say “look the pink hat guy is there again!” ever again..

I did not peruse today's BCB Fanposts and missed the post about John Branch's article.
However, I feel better having commented here in this Fanpost about Ronnie and the HOPE of genuine Cubs fans, as is represented by All The Way!

In Cubs’ Luckless Lore, the Story of a Baseball Life

My message/reply:
OK, I had my tirade and disgust moments the last two days – probably intensified by witnessing that miserable first game live at Wrigley.
This article about Ron Santo helped me to re-ground myself about the proper perspective when dealing with the Cubs and their “quest” to win it all.
Ron must experience the ultimate amount of emotional torture, disgust, and disappointment by virtue of having suffered through 1969, and his daily witness to each game, every season in his broadcast role.
I hope that Ronnie gets to finally click his heels one last time, and I will gladly attempt it as well – and probably join him sprawled on the ground crying in pure tears of joy!
Light lots of candles, say lots of prayers, and hope, and hope, and hope that the Miracle of Miracles DOES find its way into these final episodes of the 2008 Cubs!
It is just so hard to try to accept that this team cannot win and can be playing as if they have morphed into the anti-2008 Cubs. 1984 still evokes a huge amount of regret and feelings of absolute letdown and anguish.
Well maybe this time the WasteCoast (five games were also played in 1984) outcome will experience a reversal of fortunes!
The Cubs and their fans genuinely deserve, and more importantly NEED this like the Bleed Cubbie Blue blood that courses through the very veins of their lives!
For one more, and hopefully, many more times this season –
GO CUBS GO!
Keep the faith, GCF.
We’ll get there. For Ron and Ernie and Billy. And everyone else who wore the royal blue pinstripes and never played in a WS. We’ll get there.
Tommie Agee was out.

I think this is the kind of series where the home team always loses
and the home fans suffer – until the last game, that is.
second I believe
Okay, just so I understand it... in your wildest fantasy, you are in hell. And you are co-running a bed and breakfast with the devil.
Tonight
I honestly think if we win tonight we’re going to do this.
I made a decision this morning. I was going to avoid all baseball as much as I could all day. Hubby and kids are up in Wisconsin with his brothers and their kids for a fathers/kids weekend so I had the day to myself.
So I got a haircut, had lunch with 2 non baseball fan friends and kept Cubs off topic which they didn’t mind and went to see An American Carol (very funny no matter what side of the fence you are on – my friend has an under 5 in it if I told you what she does it gives something away though) and bought some stuff for Halloween. Had tea at a tea store and bought my brother a birthday present.
Now I’m home but going to dinner with my coffee friends whos purpose is to keep my mind off things that is their stated goal.
Although one of my friends is a little perturbed at me because because of me he got into the Cubs and now will be really disappointed while before he wouldn’t have given a dang!
Thngs of worth are worth fighting for regardless of the odds.
Welcome and nice post, but I see/saw things a bit differently.
We lost badly, the games were totally out of reach, we got our butts kicked. Fortunately, momentum in baseball, to half quote Earl Weaver,“…is today’s starting pitcher.”
Cubs fans are warranted to be upset about the no-show of their team, and sometimes that venting gets out of hand but it doesn’t mean that fans have given up.
I am very critical of how this team has played and I tip my at to the Dodgers who are hands down the better team so far. But I think we can pull it together and win tonight. it’s going to be a tough close game if we win and we will need to play near mistake free, but even more our fricking damn best hitters with power need to start hitting the ball with authority. they need to have good ABs and extra base hits. It’s very hard to score in the playoffs because you usually face good pitching and a pitcher that’s pretty good usually gets that way by not allowing bunches of hits and BBs together. We need to work against that and get guys on and get big hits. None of this is new and this team used to do this with regularity until about 4-6 weeks ago. Harden’s not going to throw a no-hitter but he can still dominate and our hitters need to put up a minimum of 4 runs tonight for us to have a chance. I think they can do it.
