Around SBN: Jeremy Lin And How The Pac-12 Missed Him

The umpires sucked

One could argue how poorly the Cubs played this series, and one could also argue how poor Blue was as well.

Star-divide

Game One.  Pitches that were 3 inches of the plate were called strikes against the Cubs, and pitches right down the middle were called balls for the Dodgers.  I could not even believe my eyes.  If you just have one pitch called a strike that's off the outside edge, that completely changes the at bat.  The difference between 2-1 and 1-2 is huge.  It can ultimately be the difference in the outcome of the game.

Game Two.  Zambrano was superb, but of course his defense let him down.  He had the best at bat of the night.  As horribly as they played, they were rallying in the 9th and of course I had hope.  The last two batters were called out on strikes on what appeared to again be ball 4's.  Mark Derosa's fair double down the line was also called foul.  (I know he got a hit anyway, but blue needs to do it's job)

Game Three.  Inning One, Dodgers up.  A foul ball called fair.  A runner tagged out at 3rd called safe.  The rest of the game was called great, well I couldn't bear to watch the 9th so I don't know about that.

I will admit that the Dodgers had a few calls go against them as well(Big Z going to 2nd on the bunt attempt, and one or two pitches down the middle called balls for the Cubs).  However, two or three as opposed to most of Game One.

I'm not surprised that the Dodgers won, what are the Cubs hitters supposed to do.  Swing at sliders off the plate because they would be called strikes anyway.

There should be an investigation.  I believe MLB(along with the NBA and NFL) has lost it's integrity.

Of course this does not get a World Series ring, and will be forgotten about(well it was never really talked about).  Did anybody noticed how PitchTrax kept showing the obvious pitches, but ones that were so obviously off were not.

I realize that the Cubs got their fair share of breaks during the regular season which helped them win games, but in a 5 game series they are magnified.

Sore loser.

Don’t be one. You don’t drop 3 straight and not get beaten soundly.

If you were watching as you claim, you’d realize that.

Besides the obvious - Go Irish.

Z. He doesn't need an exclamation point. He is one.

I wouldn't blame the umps for our horrible play.

But they sure weren’t the best umpire crew on the field. They were like the Dick Stockton, Tony Gwynn, and Ron Darling of umpiring

Man, i hate those overgrown 8th grader look alike Brewer fans.

The Cubs are too blame

not the umps. When you don’t get a hit with runner’s in scoring position EVER, for 3 GAMES you LOSE. PERIOD. Cubs lost. End of Story.

All valid responses...

Yes the Cubs needed to step it up and find a way to win, and it’s a little much to blame it all on the poor umpires. Let’s say this, the umpires sucked about as bad as the Cubs did.

The umpires sucked...

…the announcers sucked, the pitching sucked, the fielding sucked, the hitting sucked, the weather sucked (at least in Chicago). The buffet in the clubhouse probably sucked too! Face it, everything about this series pretty much sucked. So be it!
