Around SBN: MLB Trade Deadline: Phils, Astros complete Roy Oswalt deal

I was at the game tonight.

If you all think that you had it bad... I had to sit through the same nine innings of crappy baseball as the rest of you.  Only I had to sit there as idiot Dodger fans batted around beach balls, taunted me for wearing my Cubs gear, chanted "Sweep! Sweep! Sweep!" the whole game, and chanted "Cubbies suck" at least once an inning.

When Fontenot was down with what looked to be a serious leg injury, a Dodger fan in the row behind me was booing the entire time.  When I confronted him about it, his reply was, "I don't care, man.  I'm here to win."

I had a Dodger fan tap me on the shoulder in the fifth inning and ask me, "You happy you get to watch your team lose?"

I heard the two Dodger fans sitting behind me debate toward the end of the 6th inning whether they should leave to beat the traffic.  They left after the 6th inning.  I shit you not... they left a potentially-clinching playoff game for their team at the end of six innings of play.

As I exited the stadium immediately after the last pitch, a celebratory Dodger fan got in my face and yelled, "Fuck you Cubbie fan!"  As I walked on the concourse towards the exit, I heard a woman remark to her friend (as they were also leaving), "If it was the World Series, I would stick around."  As I walked in the parking lot, a car pulled along side me with three grinning idiots, who yelled out in unison, "Fuck you Cubs fan!  Cubs suck!"

I guess this all goes to drive home the point, which you all know already... that there is no justice in this game.  Fuck this fucking game.

It's LA

What did your really expect?

I will agree with one thing those three grinning idiots said, “Cubs Suck!”

Michael Corleone said it best: “Just when I think I’m out they PULL me back in!”

Three times in 5 years. I say ENOUGH!

This team has subjected us to enough of this crap. I say no more hat, t-shirts, or jerseys. No more blogging or following this teams every move. I say send a message to this team and just ingore. Breaking up is hard to do but it is time to say ENOUGH!

My thought exactly

It’s LA. That really says it all.

Man, that's brutal.

I hope the Phillies win the NL.

LA

probably has the most fly by night fans in the league. Never been there have no freaking desire to step foot in that garbage town.
But your right this one is tough, 9 losses in a row in the post season, this offseason and the start of next season will be like no other. This series took a cut out of me, just hope the players feel the same. This was embarassing.

"Garbage Town"??

There are lots of really good things about LA, but the behavior of Dodger fans is not one of them.

Though what happened is no surprise to me. There are a lot of a-holes at dodger stadium.

It's really a shame the 2nd best team in California

moves on while the best one probably wont.

The best defense is a good offense.....Lou Pinella...still hasn't managed the Cubs to a post season win. D. Lee still doesn't have a post seasson RBI for Cubs...ditto for Soriano

Sorry You Went Through All That

I also have endured the encourage juvenileness that is Dodger Stadium. I say “encouraged” because the ushers do NOTHING to squelch the bad language and throwing of objects at fans of other teams. It’s like their attitude is “You open yourself up for it by rooting for the other team – if you rooted for the Dodgers then you wouldn’t have these problems.” And it’s been like that for over 25 years!

Really it’s like attending one of my high school basketball games, the way the fans show zero insight and appreciation for the game and the opposition. Boo everything the other team does, cheer everything the Dodgers do, and that’s it. Talk about catering to the LCD.

Never, but NEVER, put ketchup on a hot dog.

I would have fought someone.

That’s the kind of mood I’ve been in the last few days.

I was there too

Mambochicken is 100% right about everything. When I first moved to LA I heard Dodger fans were the laid back, dispassionate, show-up-late-leave-early types of fan. While they do show up late and leave early they are also the WORST fans in baseball. Unintelligent, loud, obnoxious, violent and just plain angry win or lose. I know all sports teams have some undesirables as fans, but in LA it’s a sports culture. Talking to older folks it was Raider Nation that started it and the Dodgers willingly let the infestation occur in their fan base as well. Last night was just brutal just something I’m going to try to block out of my memory.

The critical thing to understand is that major-league pitchers don't appear to have the ability to prevent hits on balls in play. There are many possible reasons why this is the case, and I don't really have a concrete idea as to why it is.

But the one thing I do know is that it is the case.

I defended LA Dodger fans a few days ago

NOT NOW!!! I was also there and they were horrible. I saw Cubs fans being pelted with peanuts as they went to the consessions. The fans were more interested in saying “Cubs Suck” than cheering the Dodgers. It was disgusting. They were even taunting this guy who was wearing a Fukudome jersey. It was great when Fukudome got a hit in the game, but I’m sure that was lost on that Dodger fan. I also heard the booing when Fontenot was hurt. Sick!

OT: Baseball alive at old Tiger Stadium site
I have to admit, i didn't expect this to work, and i generally don't condone ratting somebody out, but i think Woo Woo inspires special circumstances.

He was a few rows above me and a group of maybe a hundred other University of Iowa alumni last night, and started right in with the wooing early and loud. Between innings, he was... how shall i say this... creeping around? We all know his reputation.

Within 10 minutes of making a complaint to the Cubs text line, he was gone. Might be worth trying in future instances.

Sorry for the crappy picture quality... just got a new phone (HTC EVO) and am not sure how to take screen caps yet.
