Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

Who to root for now?

Of the possibilities left -- my preferences in order- (Yes, the Angels and White Sox technically have chances, but c'mon)

1) Red Sox-Dodgers -- This would be absolutely hysterical, watching the Boston media twist itself in knots over Manny and Torre. I'd watch every pitch.

2) Rays-Dodgers -- Again, I'd root for the Dodgers. Torre is a class act and Nomar and Mad Dog were class guys here. I don't get the rage against Manny that some do.

3) Red Sox-Phillies -- It would be fun to see the Red Sox stomp them. Jason Bay is a likeable enough guy to root for.

4) Rays-Phillies -- Meh

Another word on Manny. I love watching that man hit. I get that he screwed the Red Sox. I get it. But it's hard for me to hate him.

Baseball is actually not as much of a team sport as we like to say it is. The pitcher and the catcher and the 2nd baseman and shortstop have to work together, but everyone else is just doing their thing. Ball comes to you, you field it. You throw it to the right guy, who stands there waiting for it.

A team with Mannys will win more than a team with "team players" like Lee.

Noone.

I mean, seriously. Does it really matter?

It's a hypothetical

Manny is going to be a Yankee or a Dodger next year.

But I would love to see him here. The Red Sox in 2004 had 25 guys with little to no regard for history. They didn’t respect the game enough to think coming back from 3-0 was insurmountable.

I want those guys. Respect the game on your own time.

I want people dumb enough to think, “100 years? That’s like… caveman days!”

I want people who, all due respect, never heard of Tinkers or Evans or Chance, or even Santo, Williams and Fergie. (Actually, Dawson, Ryno and Shawon optional)

I want people who, when they think ’’69’" giggle like frat boys. I want people who think Bartman is a superhero character on the Simpsons. I want people who think 1984 was, like, forever ago.

The worst beer I had was pretty good.

I'm pullin' for the Phillies in the NL. In the AL, not sure.

I always hated the Dodgers, and I once lived in LA. Dodger fans are horrible and pathetic. The stadium is a big sanitized parking lot.

Philly fans are cool, and the team is classy.

I too hate Dodger fans..

..even more so after taking so much abuse at Dodger Stadium last night — boy, did they rub it in! But I Iove the thought of the Steinbrenners watching Torre win another WS — I gotta pick L.A.

I'm rooting for the Phils

I’d love to see Jamie Moyer win the final game. At my age, I love to see old guys doing well.

Seriously, I’m not rooting that heavily for anyone but I will be watching. I’m a baseball fan so even with the Cubs out, it is still playoff baseball.

I'll watch the seventh game of the world series if it happens

I mean, that’s really history! Other than that, I really couldn’t care less.

I'm pulling for...

Rays, Angels, and Dodgers. We’ll see how far each of them make it…

Whoever wins it; it will be fun to watch

and we won’t feel any worse than we already do.So let it go and enjoy the love of the game. It;s still better than the alternative.

Tommie Agee was out.

Rays or Red Sox/Phillies

The Rays are this generation’s miracle team so I’ll be pulling for them. Or, if they play Boston in the ALCS and the Red Sox win, then I hope they face the Phillies so it’s a battle between two historically significant cities (American history, not necessarily baseball history).

Don’t really want to see the Dodgers win the pennant because it validates what Manny Ramirez pulled to get out of Boston. Dick Allen with dreadlocks, Manny is.

Never, but NEVER, put ketchup on a hot dog.

Dodgers for me...

Absolutely sickening series just past, since my wife is a hardcore Dodgers fan. I have no choice but to root for them now. Torre sticking it to the Bankees would be awesome.
