If you think it's crap, stay away.

I’m posting this for anyone here who wants to discuss baseball. This is, after all, a baseball site.

I thought that too but then looking at the other posts above

what would he be replyng to? BCPOD’s post makes no sense. As my great-grandmother used to say, “it takes all kinds to make this world.” For him to come on this site and criticize Al for creating a post for the NLCS is beyond ludicrous. It’s a baseball site and Al spends a hell of a lot of his own time to make this possible for the rest of us. There have been hundreds of stupid posts on this sites by people who have an opinion one way or the other about the Cubs or baseball or whatever but at least the posters were in the “baseball” universe. You can let those go because those folks are just expressing their opinion which is the point of this place. BrewCrew, why are YOU posting this crap?

Crap????

Its baseball, and its two teams that deserve to be were they are.

In watching tonight, you could flash back and just recall how tight the Cubs were all three games. They have to find a way to get over that hump.

This series

I think it’ll be pretty competitive and entertaining series. While it’s the wrong shade of blue facing the Phillies, I’ll be watching for some hopefully entertaining baseball.

I think the Rays/Sox series will be REALLY good.

ugh.

On October 17, 2006, TBS agreed to a seven year agreement with Major League Baseball to broadcast the National League Championship Series and American League Championship Series in alternating years from 2007 to 2013. TBS will have the NLCS in 2007, 2009, 2011 and 2013 and the ALCS in 2008, 2010 and 2012. As part of another deal reached earlier in the summer, FOX will continue to broadcast the ALCS, in 2007, 2009, 2011 and 2013, and the NLCS, in 2008, 2010 and 2012.

Ugh.

That means if the Cubs make it to the NLCS next year, we’ll be subjected to TWO rounds of TBS.

Nevertheless, I’ll take it.

Under the deals, the World Series, All-Star games and Saturday afternoon regular-season telecasts remain on Fox. Turner Broadcasting System will show all first-round playoff games, and the two networks will share the NL and AL championship series, alternating leagues each year.

On the plus side

Bill Murray was just on the SNL special to ask a question about how the candidates would fix the Cubs if they were president during their mock debate.

Unfortunately, both candidates agreed the situation was hopeless.

It made the ribbing they gave Cubs fans much more palatable that he was in on it. His appearance really put a big smile on my face.

O man o man. Gotta feel bad for Lowe but 3 Runs is a hell of a game. Especially with only 2 Earned.

by cubsfaninatl on Oct 9, 2008 9:12 PM CDT reply actions

Good game for him.

But he was leaving more pitches up this inning, and that error really hurt.

Sorta like both these teams but believe Phillies will win the World Series

I think the Phillies smoke through either Boston or Tampa Bay too.

Game over

1-0 Phillies lead series.

Good night everyone. Fun game to watch.

by cubsfaninatl on Oct 9, 2008 9:58 PM CDT reply actions

Now that was a good baseball...

…game. Good pitching, clutch hitting and some defense.

The Phils bidded their time with Lowe and you could tell he was tiring a bit in the 6th. When they got their chance, they didn’t miss.

I know Furcal made an error, but I couldn’t help but notice just how far below Theriot is defensively compared to these guys.

I’ll pick the Phils in 6.

In the best of all worlds, I think we need to shore up our defense at SS.

Theriot is clearly not the answer.

Phils win...all is good with the world now...

I view the Phils as we viewed the Tigers in 1984.

After the Cubs lost to the Padres in 1984, Mike Royko said this to the Detroit Tigers (in the Trib) regarding his wish that they beat the Padres:

“Go get ‘em cousins. And remember there is more at stake than a mere baseball championship. Or even the honor of all the has-been slums or sausage-eating cities of America. We’re counting on you to stop the spread of fern bars.”
