Zito???
He’s been a bigger flop than the ’08 Cubs. No thanks!
Teixeira will command WAYYYYY more than that — I’m thinking more like 7yrs/ $140-150M. Besides, we’d have to get D. Lee to waive his NTC. Teixeira is going to the Yankees to replace Giambi — I guarantee it!
Manny is rumored to be seeking 4 yrs/$100M. Can’t stand him anyway — no thanks!
I like a healthy Furcal but can he stay healthy???
I say, let Demp walk and go for CC or Burnett, because I don’t see Demp repeating his ‘08 performance. Furcal may be signable to a short deal considering he missed so much of ’08 and he’s still young; so he may want a year or two to prove he’s worth a big time deal. This would give us a great PH and sub in Theriot. Sign DeRosa to an extension and re-sign Woody. THEN, keep Harden off the DL by having him skip a start here and there with Marquis, Marshall, and perhaps Samarjia filling in. (Did I spell Jeffs name right?)

I'd much rather take Demp
than a CC whose arm is gonna fall off in the next couple of years or Burnett with an injury history and inflated numbers.

Aaron Rowand?!?!?
No thanks… I like our team as it is now… we need to add some sort of outfielder and a lefty in the pen…. I propose looking at Brian Giles.. he has a 2009 club option

Holy crap.
Al, this is enough. Can you start regulating diaries somehow? Ever since the playoffs started, this place has gotten out of control.

Got any ideas on how to do that?
I have a feeling that as the days go by, this kind of stuff will start to fade away.
If it doesn’t, maybe I’ll have to do something.

Limit each user to 1 diary per week
Don’t let new members post diaries until one week after registering
Add an anti-rec feature (vote down?) where if enough people vote a diary down it disappears from the front page
Obviously that’s more of an SB Nation wishlist than one for you, but they’d make the site more manageable.

One per week is a little severe.
Your idea of voting down… I dunno. At first glance it sounds good, but some people might use it as a vendetta.
I do agree with the post below… eventually it will calm down. Already has, to some extent.

But come on, Barry Zito for Soriano??
Teixeira only taking a 4 year deal?

Something must be done!!!!!
Al, all these people posting things about the Cubs has become tedious. Please clean this site up. The intelligentsia that runs your site has become offended by the interlopers. Off with their heads!

Let's see who the next owner is...
If it is Cuban, maybe he will spend like the Yankees. If we get a cheap owner,we’re toast.
