Around the league: Holliday to Oak?

According to SI, it's about done.  no terms or further details.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/baseball/mlb/11/10/heyman.holliday/index.html

So for those of you hoping that somehow Holliday would end up in our outfield...oh well.  This could be the first domino to fall, though, in a series of moves over the next couple weeks.  If I had to guess, the Athletics will be sending some combination of Daric Barton, Travis Buck, Gio Gonzalez, Dallas Braden, and maybe even our old friends Sean Gallagher, E-Patt, and Murton.  I'm sure they'd love to ditch Crosby, but considering the Rockies already are saddled with Tulowitzki (who's still salvageable) and Barmes (not so much), I doubt he's involved.  but we'll see..

Intriguing deal

Busy day, but had to come on and comment on this.

I think this could be a brilliant move for Beane. All comes down to what he gave up.

Over the last two years, he’s rebuilt a farm system that was struggling, to the point that they are loaded and can afford to give up a couple guys. They can afford to give up a couple guys for Holliday, which addresses a big offensive need for them. They can make a push this year, and if it fails, either deal him at the deadline, or collect two picks to restock the lower levels of the system.

I imagine Colorado went after starting pitching. If Beane gave up a top guy, then this deal is eh, but I doubt Beane gave up a top arm.

Interesting

So what happens with the A’s outfield. I think they’ll move Cust to right, Holliday in left and Sweeney in center. I’m glad to see him out of our league.

But...but...where does Matt Murton fit in?

Are you kidding? Murton will be starting. Holiday will fill in when carrot top needs a day off.

He's tied up at a five-month advanced Photoshop training retreat.

On the bright side, he should be ready to go on Opening Day.

If you really must know...

with only 1,457 days until the next election, I’ve been really busy trying to keep the momentum going for Barry….

As I've told you before, I never repeat myself.

I take it you haven't seen Cust play the outfield?

He’s terrible and more of a DH which is one of the reasons he spent so much time in the minor leages.

Hey, it's a new century!

Matt Murton will be in Triple A where he belongs

Jack Cust sucks. An enormously overrated hitter who can’t play the field. The more he has been in the league in Oakland the more pitchers have adjusted to his stand on top of the plate and jerk it hitting approach.

McGrath: I got a good deal on those boys. The scouts said they showed a lot of promise.
Reggie Dunlop: They brought their f***in' TOYS with 'em!
McGrath: Well, I'd rather have em playin with their toys than playin with themselves.
Reggie Dunlop: They're too dumb to play with themselves. Boy, every piece of garbage that comes into the market and you gotta buy it!

you’re going to bow down to the god that is, Matt Murton.

That would be efficient,

up to a point.

In all seriousness....

it would bode well for Murton if he was traded to Colorado.
