I'm on a plane with Kerry Wood Aboard in NYC

One question - Yankees or Mets?

Please don't go Kerry. I keep envisioning a senario where all other teams try to low-ball him. He returns to Jim Hendry before spring training and asks Jim to give him a fair offer for next year. Jim does, Kerry signs and closes. He returns to the All-Star game but doesn't pitch this time, enjoying the rest.

Cubs win the Central again, Kerry closes games 1 and 3 of the divison series. Closes games 2, 4 and 5 of the championship series to put the Cubs back into the World Series!

Tell him that we all love him and are all pulling for him (unless he joins the Mets)

He’s a class act, and it’s sad that he has to go to NYC to look for a job.

In the spirit of today's weirdness

If he doesn’t return to the Cubs, it helps my Strat-O-Matic team if he goes to the Mets . .. I have the Mets and Wood is on my roster.

I realize no one cares, but I’m kind of jittery today and the typing helps.

I didn't bother him

as I am definately one to respect celebrities while in public. I saw him when I boarded the plane and walked past him. He was seated in first class. Didn’t think to look who he was with. I probably stared just a bit too long and noticed he might have caught on that I knew who he was. Still has the beard and I have no idea if he was happy, sad, angry or (enter your emotion here)

Ok, so not that I feel I need to prove myself

cause if you don’t believe me then what do I care…. BUT I was on a DELTA flight landing in JFK and Kerry was sitting in the first row of first class.

I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t mistake someone else for Kerry Wood.

I am done proving my point.. Next time i’ll ask to take a picture so people will believe… This post was only intended to stir up conversation about where Kerry might sign his next contract…. GEEZ!

Ick

Aren’t the Delta flights to JFK on the crappy “fake” Delta commuter airline with the worst on time record in the industry. I fly
NYC-Chicago a lot and you could not PAY me to take Delta aka Comair. I am shocked anyone would when both American
and United have good service though a lot fewer flights than before.

As I posted back in July I had Jason Marquis and his family on my American Fight back to NYC and I also felt very odd and
probably stared a bit too much but I agree you should really not bother athletes unless they are “at work”.

saw Andre Dawson at O’Hare on my way to Atlanta. I’m not sure what he’s doing now, but this was back when he was a coach on the Marlins staff. Fun

One fun off season after the moves are over boring day topic could be goofiest things you’ve ever seen posted on the net Cubs related or other.

I saw something that takes not the cake but the whole bakery.

On a Bears fansite someone went into a diatribe over the Bears and how he knew football inside and out followed the team religiously blah blah blah and how he knew more than anyone else and the first thing the bears needed to do?

Fire ready for this

JIM HENDRY!

This guy follows the team religiously and thinks the Bears need to fire the Cubs GM?

Poor Hendry he gets flak from us enough and now the Bears should fire him?

I actually think the Bears need to clone the Cubs front office and inject them with the same amount of football abilities as they have in baseball and bring them aboard.

Just because he's going to NY

doesn’t mean Kerry Wood is visiting a NY team.

GM’s might be living there in the off season. Maybe he’s visiting family or friends. And maybe this post is BS?

Plus I could be wrong but don’t GM’s go out of their way to visit the players, not vice versa?

by ak123 on Nov 20, 2008 7:42 AM CST reply actions   0 recs

No, actually..

… if Wood were serious about investigating a certain team, I’m sure he’d go visiting.

GM’s don’t have the time to fly all over the country chasing after players. That’s what cellphones are for.

by hmlee on Nov 20, 2008 11:58 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Players usually go to the cities they are considering.

That would be doubled since the Mets are opening a new yard and they would want to use it as a “recruiting tool”. Also, players (especially pitchers or players coming off a serious injury) usually take at least a screening physical with team doctors before discussions get serious.

Oftentimes, someone from the front office will take the player around and show him the fancy neighborhoods the current players live in.
