NHL Winter Classic Rink Update: Live Video!

Now THIS is cool. The NHL Network is live-streaming the construction of the hockey rink.

This ought to keep you entertained and informed for the afternoon, in case I can't get over there for photos.

this is really neat

It’s cool seeing Wrigley covered in snow (not from Chicago, from DC area which if we get a dusting we go crazy)

Al, in case no one else has confirmed it...

…your Twitter updates are coming through loud and clear.

Yes, yes ... winter is indeed a pond upon which all of us must skate, braving frostbite and runny noses in the hopes that our cars will start and we shan't embarass ourselves slipping on a patch of black ice. Spring is more a quagmire of cold mud and slush, and fall is a pile of fallen leaves that may or may not hide a pile of doggy doo-doo. But summer, ah summer is an oasis of endless green that disappears all too quickly beneath our feet as we rush through its warm, glorious bliss.

Thanks.

There was an issue that, once I figured it out, was easily resolved.

I think Twitter will be much more useful during the season. Right now it just notifies about posts, unless I send something specific directly there.

That's pretty interesting. A lot of pacing around down there.

The one thing that really speaks to the time of year it is...

…and it’s not the snow? The shadow lines of the upper deck and light standards.

Now this is really neat. It’ll be very interesting to see how it looks as dusk falls.

Bet they’re gonna have some serious delays in doing all this work with what all the snow, sleet and rain that can hit the ball park over the next few days.

They're working pretty fast.

In the hour since I posted this, they’ve done quite a bit of work on the boards.

I was just thinking that

the shadow of the light standard is all ready out to the bleachers. It looks like the 3rd base side of the rink (weird) is still getting some sun – I wonder if that’ll have any effect on how that end plays. Also, it looks a lot bigger than I thought it would.

It does look bigger, doesn't it?

That will allow more people to get a better view.

That shadow will make part of the rink tough to play in if it’s sunny. They’d do better on a day that has a light overcast.

I didn't think about that...

I was thinking more along the lines of maybe that the ice in that end might be softer, and play a little choppy. I’m hoping for the same kind of weather conditions like last years.

Hmm.

Someone seems to have zoomed the camera out.

Also, this isn’t quite “live” — it’s on a 15-minute delay.

Bleacher Seating for Winter Classic

Can anyone tell me if Sec 311 Row 9 Seats 1 & 2 are right next to the batters eye or on the aisle closer to Sec 312? Nowhere on any site does it distinguish how bleacher seats are arranged numerically because they are General Admission. Thanks to anyone who can help.
