ESPN: A First look at MLB 09 The Show
Now heres a warming thought on this arctic December day. (Imagine if the Winter Classic was today)
ESPN presented a first look of MLB 09 The Show. The Release date for the game isnt until March 3rd but If you are lucky enough to own a Playstation 3 youll be in for a real treat with this game, whose franchise is often called the best Baseball simulation out there.
ESPN- MLB 09 The Show: First Look
I will have you read the review but I thought you'd all get a kick out of these two highlights that I personally thought where just down right awesome:
Franchise 2.0
Sony has added a lot of little details that the hard-core MLB fans have been shouting for, including salary arbitration, waiver transactions, September call-ups, and the 40-man roster. Player personality will also come into play as gamers try to juggle the needs of the franchise versus the needs of their star players.
Trash Talk 2.0 MLB 09 is about to bring out the crazed fan in all of us as not only can you record your voice screaming anything from "Where's Madonna?" to "we want a pitcher not a belly itcher" and put it in the game thanks to peripherals like the Rock Band mic and wireless headset, the fan yells will sound like your voice actually coming from the stands. You can even assign the recordings to be part of a chant and your voice will be put through a new process so that it sounds more like a crowd chanting "over-rated" and not just a single person yelling.
This sounds like one helluva game when it comes out on March 3rd.

Not only would it be brutally cold for the Winter Classic today...
… but they’d have trouble with shadows, since it’s bright and sunny. Their ideal day would be overcast and about 30-35 degrees.

Assuming it's over cast out....
do you think they’ll turn on the lights like they do at Wrigley when the skies are really dark during a day game?

Yes, I'm certain they will.

I hope it will be good for PS2... (I know, I am SO not with it!)
MLB:08 is decent, but the graphics are only OK. Also, can ps2 players do the crowd thing too?
Oh Baby!

Exactly
How much better can they get? I don’t say that facetiously… I really can’t wait to see.

Been Waiting Years for That Roster Stuff
I was just discussing that with a friend a few weeks ago and suggested it would be about time somebody put arbitration, waivers, and the 40 man roster. This is awesome news! That will be a lot of fun for sure. It was already a good game.

I love that Roster aspect that have added
It makes the game that must more realistic and really gives you the sense of Being a GM or a Manager.

Great game
This series keeps getting better and better. Looking forward to this game. There are alot of little things I hope they fix but in general, the game shouldn’t be changed too much. I love some of these features they are adding though. Can’t wait.

OK...
Am I the only one that REALLY misses EA Sports continuing the MVP Baseball series? I still play MVP ’05.

Dude....
I miss is totally.
I haven’t been able to get into any baseball games since that series was halted.
I wish EA would revive it. I’d guess that it would be a top seller.
(I have a 360 so I can’t get The Show)

it sucks
Because I believe they can’t revive it anytime soon, 2ksports has and exclusive contract with MLB stopping EASports from creating MVP Baseball..
I have a 360 also and have forgotten what it is like to play a good baseball game.

The Show 08 was a very good game
I’ll agree that MVP was the best series in recent memory, but its gone and The Show is very realistic and very intricate, but the 2k series is pretty good too, I believe its headed by the guy who oversaw the MVP series, so it should get better and better

im biased.....
I don’t really like the PS3…. mainly because Im in love with Xbox Live.
I should hate Microsoft. I’m going to be on my 4th Xbox360 because Ive gotten defective ones… don’t even play THAT much.
I’d like to try The Show.
Also, here’s a snippet for the MVP fans from good ol’ wikipedia:
In 2005, in response to EA Sports’ exclusive license with the National Football League and ESPN, Take-Two Interactive signed an exclusive third-party licensing contract with Major League Baseball (MLB), MLBPA and MLBAM to produce MLB games. The agreement, which runs from Spring 2006 to 2012, allows for the console manufacturers Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo to produce MLB titles for their respective platforms, but bars third party developers such as EA Sports from continuing or developing their own MLB games.
